On most of the One Trick Pony tracks, Mr. Simon plays a black, solid body electric similar in shape to a Les Paul...but it´s not a Les Paul. I can´t clearly see the headstock in any clips. White biding, thinline ebony body, single cutaway, no treble/bass switch, ebony fretboard, mother of pearl.....what kind of guitar was that? Please help

Wasn´t it a Yamaha?

I´m sorry,but I think it is a Les Paul. It doesn´t have the Bigsby tremelo arm,but I´m pretty sure it´s a Gibson.

I know the guitar you are speaking of and I´m 95% sure it´s a Guild electric.

Nick from Widnes England writes:

The One Trick Pony Electric is in fact a Gibson guitar.

Black Model LS 5

Guitarist Magazine quotes this model in its recent review of Paul´s Solo 1980 Concert DVD recoreded at The Tower Hotel In Phili USA.

I seen the guitar on dvd and checked on line. The DVD Paul Simon Live In Philadphia is definatley an LS 5 Gibson

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like the perfect electric guitar for a fingerstyle player like Paul. Do either of you know anything about the blinding white strat-like guitar that Paul played on the Graceland tour during Sound Of Silence? I have always thought it was a custom Roger Sadowsky. I also believe this is or was the same guitar Paul made a gift of to Ray Phiri at the end of the Graceland jaunt. Can anyone verify this?
