USA - United Staates America

Rolling stone continues to speak kindly of Paul in a very small blurb this issue the compare Waiting for Christmas Day to his "most heart" (sorry, I can´t remember the next word, but something like rending. Says at first it seems to be a boppy christmas ditty but on second hearing has scathing critique of our current wars.
Okay, maybe. To me on second hearing it is more like a boppy christmas ditty but anyway, it cant hurt to have rolling stone behind you.

Oh they sort of compare it to Vampire Weekend. Paul, at his worst, is about 1000x as good as Vampire Weekend. (IMHO)

Well - for me personaly I see no critiques against the wars. I believe as a US citizen, either if you are pro or against the wars, all people always support their soldiers (they are family members), and everyone has his own personal story (someone in the family) who has to work as a soldier. And I see this as a work, because in the USA it is your decission to go to the army, but the economics and low graduations squeeze people to work for the army.

So Paul is just telling a typical situaton for americans, the family member in some distant war. As usually he is not making a real statement (pro/against), but we (do) judge he might be against these wars.

But from the perspective as a pro-war
person this song might not disturb his/her opinion (I would guess)

BTW: I do not know a lot about the rest of Pauls family members, but his only real nephew has to be a son of Eddie Simon I guess...? I doubt he would be in Iraq. Maybe someone from his wifes family... But anyway, I just see it as a methaper for the usual middle-class family.

in some interviews around the time of the Surprise release, PS was asked if he was against war and he said he was, he also mentioned that one of Edies nephews was a soldier in Iraq ( at the time)
