HOw long does it take to make ANY changes to a website? I would suggest to the people running Paul´s new website that they just hire Bodo, someone who has shown the capability and interest in putting together a Paul Simon website within Paul´s (and my) lifetime.

To design a new website from scratch can take a while, but I´d have thought they´d have had started the work long before the WB site was shuttered. I mean we´ve known about the deal since June.

It seemed to take them by Surprise, actually. They posted about the Legacy remasters on the WB site, I guess somebody there took offence and pulled the plug on the site. Now Sony are scrambling to put one together ...

Well, Simon´s official site has been so-so to rotten for the most part of the last 15 years. I can wait for a few more days...

As for the deal with Hear Music, it was not confirmed last June if you remember. Only the move of Old catalogue was confirmed.

Could someone help me understand why we see both logos on his site. Is Hear Music in any way related to Legacy ?

I guess it is going to be like the S&G Live 1969. It was 1st available through Starbucks, and after that it was moved to Legacy. Is it the same thing that awaits SBOSW?

I don´t understand why he did not move the whole thing period to Sony Legacy.

Maybe the move of SBOSW to Legacy eventually will give another occasion to release a boxset ? ah ah ah, joke !

that´s what I´m really waiting for is a good box set. I´d like to by a compilation, just the hits and skip all the filler.

PS has no filler music. He is an album artist. Each album as a whole is a piece of work, you can´t fully enjoy his music without listening to the albums completely. It´s what separates him from most artists.

Legacy and Hear Music aren´t related. The reason for both is that Paul´s Old catalogue has moved to Legacy but he´s releasing his new album on HearMusic/Concord.

Sony are the ones in charge of the site, it appears. We knew he was moving back to Sony about June.

Just to agree with above comments.
Paul Simon is an album worthy artist.

I think that one of reasons he doesn´t have hit songs is because of his standing in producing strong albums of songs.

I guess there is a place for boxed sets but really the best boxed set for Paul is the box with all studio albums 1972 to 2000 with bonus tracks.

For me, there are gems on all albums that just wouldn´t get into a compilation.

It is very interesting - I have a question to you all here now.

Intro:
Every 15-30 months a new website at paulsimon.com is launched, and everytime a lot of messages on this site start with their expections and what could be made better and so on...(yeah I am bored about these discussion)

So my question to you is: What do you expect to be there? Are you searching for another place? Do you want to leave paul-simon.info then?

To give you the answer (again). It is much easier for a private person like me to run a fan-site like this one, because I do not have to care about anything. If you work on a official site, you have to check exactly every phrase, every picture, every news (etc etc) you put on this page.
So - if I am Paul Simon management - I would say: why should we do that, there are some good fan sites outside in that world, they try to be as complete as possible, and we do not have to care as long as they do not start a flame war against Paul Simon.

It is much easier that way.

And I tell you: If Paul Simons management really wants to decide that they want to make the one and only good website about Paul Simon, then paul-simon.info or for example thedreamerofmusic will be closed in a minute. Why? Well they will say: You are not allowed to have this lyrics, this picture, this message, a.s.o.
It would be easy for them.

Example: I saw this happen with fansites of the german musician ´Reinhard Mey´ - he decided fansites are evil, and they are all closed.
The only source of information is reinhard-mey.de now.
You want to know the url of the most important fan-site?
http://www.reinhard-mey.info
(no was not mine site...just a story I found)
And now the official site has no forum, or a lot of updates...or any info about what is going on behind the scene. Only what the management approved is there.

So, I would tell you - be happy as long as paulsimon.com is, at it is nowadays.

P.S: And there are persons much closer to Simons management which can run a page perfectly and speak english perfect, so I doubt I wont be in contact ever ;)
PPS (I suggest to you, do not ask that this site should become the official one, you will see that half of everything might get lost then)

Bodo is right. I have had fan sites (for TV shows, not musicians) and I know that official sites can´t do many things that fan sites can. Forums are rare on official sites, because they really have to moderate the heck out of them. Even pictures or links are more complicated for them.

I´m not sure what everybody else wants from the new PS site. It always seemed good for an official site to me. I think they put as much as they can on the website. Copyright & legal issues, not to mention internal company problems, stop official sites doing half of what a fan site can do.

Take linking to a YouTube clip like people here do. The copyright police won´t be storming your house for it, but if the official site is linking to an unauthorised video then it´s a problem.

Ever since discovering PS-info I think I´ve visited the official website at most half a dozen times a year, as opposed to every week prior to that.

I suppose we all like to think that PS is more likely to visit an "official" site and thus we would have some indirect contact with him. Isn´t that how Arties website is/was?

I agree 100% with Bodo. The fan sites are excellent - there´s no reason for the official site to compete with them. Keep it up!
