I wonder if someone have the clip from san sebastian 1991 when Simon plays Mother And Child Reunion. I was on the concert in Stockholm and see him 1991.

I have a 1989 performance in San Sebastian on VHS which includes Mother & Child Reunion. It is a poor quality version and I have no way of converting it to a digital format.

Shame it wasn´t included on the African Concert video, if indeed it was performed there.

Just had a look on YouTube and only The Sound of Silence and Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes semm to be there from that concert.

There is also a great version of Hearts And Bones from a concert in Spain 1991,but not sure if it is from San Sebastian as Paul did three concerts in Spain that year.

Mother And Child Reunion was sublime at the 1987 Graceland concerts. We were told way in advance that this concert would not be a Paul Simon ´Greatest Hits´ show,so it was a real bonus to hear that song with that band. The Boxer and Sound Of Silence were crowd favourites too, much to Paul´s chagrin.

The whole show was on German and Spanish TV, but my VHS tape isn`t good either.

I think San Sebastian was in 1989, there were Graceland shows in early 1987 (first Rotterdam/Holland), 1988 and 1989.

I don´t think there were any Graceland tour shows in 1988; just 1987 and 1989. The first leg of the 1987 Graceland tour started in Rotterdam and the only "Old" song performed was "The Boxer." On the second night and for the rest of the tour, he also performed "Mother And Child Reunion." The tour took a bit of a break and then started a second leg in summer 1987. During these shows, Paul also added "Sounds Of Silence" which continued to be performed at the 1989 European shows.

It must have been very disappointing for some fans of his early career in that time. You know, at a concert you usually expect half of the songs are Old hit singles.

In that time with Graceland it worked great, today a show with just new songs (from Surprise + other artists) would be a real problem I guess.

It was Bodo, the advertising campaign for The tour played on radio and tv was quite confusing. They made references to the big South African band and yet all of this was spoken over a background of Kodachrome and 50 ways etc. I myself was a little disappointed, but the concert turned out to be so good regardless. Hugh Masakela singing Stimela and Miriam

Graceland was a little special, I remeber he get credit in Sweden just becuse he let the other artist get so much space. I was in stockholm and it was i think 1989 and the Old song was The Boxer, mother and child reuionen and sound of silince.

That concert was so amazing, I saw it twice, two nights in a row, in Berkeley Ca, at a pretty small hall. And to me, the music sounded much better than on the album, which sounded pretty great to begin with. It really showed off the african basis for the music, and Paul was fantastic as a performer and as the "host" of the show. Didn´t miss the Old songs at all, not those nights.
