 | I noticed on Amazon.com there´s a listing for a CD titled "Essential Paul Simon" coming up on October 25th. I assume this is just a rerelease of the Warner Bros. 2-disc set, although it looks to be a bit cheaper. I doubt they´d make a different release under the same name, but it´ll be interesting to watch.
It´s a shame if it is the same, as for the first time they could now include S&G works on the set.

 | It does not Surprise me since it will allow Simon to have the look & feel in terms of packaging of the famous Essential collections by Sony.
His 2007 essential compilation was a way to try to surf on the success of these collections...on another label (WB).
He should wait though since his WB are still widely in circulation and the market is already saturated with his greatest hits.
But it has been noticed in the recent years that such a compilation often precedes the release of a new album, as a way of boosting the sales of the new opus. It is like ´oh, remember how great I am or I was, sure you would like to try my new album´. |
