 | Nick from Widnes England Writes:
The song Mrs Robinson was famously covered by Frank Sinatra. Although it was not the same lyrics the song only kept the title and name Mrs Robinson.
Apparantly Sinatra would not sing any lyric with Jesus or God in it. So the Chorus was droped and re written. Thenn the verses. Funny Frank Sinatra still credited the song to Paul Simon.
Was any other version of a Paul Simon song ever edited and rewritten by an artist and or band performing the song.

 | If oyu change a word or two you can hardly say that the song has been "rewritten". Of course it is still a song by Paul Simon. |

 | Sinatra changed "Jesus" to "Jilly" who was Jilly Rizzo, who was well-known for running a tavern on West 52nd Street in New York. Sinatra and Rizzo were close friends.
And for years, Art Garfunkel has changed the lyrics to "Homeward Bound" to: "and all his words come back to me in shades of mediocrity" which always gets a big laugh. Dylan changed "The Boxer" from "every glove" to "every blow." I´m sure there are others. |

 | Yes, Jilly Rizzo was actually Sinatra´s bodyguard. Thus making a mockery of the whole song.
Similarly Joan Baez sang "is the Church really dead?" instead of "the theatre" in The Dangling Conversation. Ruining not only the metre of the song, but also skewing the point. |
