What If Paul Simon retired. Paul is going to be 69 years Old on October 13th. if he retires what will happen next?
My question is will Bodo retire The Neck Of My Guitar and stop this excellent web site.
I hope that Paul Carries on a while longer. But with his best freind and musical Partner Art Garfunkel taking time away to recover from a vocal problem preventing him from singing, who knows how long Paul can continue.
We have heard rumoors abut Paul´s solo plans lable changes and possible new album but as yet no actual concreate plans in the pipe line as to What is happening next.
What do u guys think at nearly 70 where dopes the musical carear ffor Paul Simon go from here.
Should the baton be passed over to Harper now?
Over to you guys!!!!

 | I´ll answer now -
First, no this page will not retire. Most of the time we do not have any news, new songs or concerts, and the page still is visited - I think we are used to talk about ´Old times´
I do not think Paul will retire - as long as his health allows him to sing. But it is interesting that he already said in 1997 that he will retire from giving concerts. I guess he has overcome this sad period...
But I also do not believe his career will go into any direction. Somehow I do not believe that Paul will have a ´late´ comeback - as for example Johnny Cash had, or even Leonard Cohen has now... (well, I talk about a solo comeback, as S&G they are always loved...)
I guess he can tour for about 6-8 years longer, and then it will become really quiet around him. He maybe stops touring when he say´s to himself that his voice isn´t good enough anylonger - but we will not hear that difference maybe :-(

 | In reality I´m a head in the sand type of person. It kills me to think about this. I can´t believe that when I became a Paul Simon fan,he was the ripe ´Old´ age of 41 and I thought that was old!(when you´re 15,a 20 year old seems ancient:)) No,I won´t even consider this. What I´ll say is Paul is physically, still in great shape and that no matter what,we still have a body of work, that in my opinion is second to none in terms of quality,if not quantity and those works will always retain their importance to serious music lovers. |

 | I think it will be interesting to see how his new album does , and if he will tour in support of it. He did tour with "Surprise". Maybe he will feel like me. I retired for a year and was bored to tears so I am working again at the age of 70. Keep on keeping on, Paul! |

 | Artists on their way to retiring usually put out all sorts of repackaged catalogue releases to keep the fans and the label happy. So one day when he retires, unreleased stuff is bound to surface, maybe in a boxed set.
And Harper, well, he´s good at doing his own thing.
