Hey all,

Disappointed S&G wont be visiting Toronto (I had tickets), but here´s to hoping Paul takes this time to write, record and tour!

Nevertheless, I was wondering if anyone had noticed (through video) that Paul plays a different chord on the final ´la, la, la´ of the final chorus. In all previous chorus parts, he would play an Em followed by an Am, but in the aforementioned part he uses a different chord that appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of the fifth fret.

If anyone knows what Paul does here, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris, it would help if you indicated what show you were talking about. Are you sure it´s not just an Am chord played at the 5th fret? On the Forest Hills 1970 show, it sounds like he plays an Am6 as the last chord; could it be that? I believe I´ve also heard him end the song with a CMaj7

you folks are great experts-I admire your knowledge (and hearing!).
A frivilous note-could Paul not be making a mistake?

The man is beyond the reach of such human folly. Mistakes- Ma´am I shall have to ask for satisfaction. Seriously though,it could be a mistake but to ascertain that,we need to know what show Chris is asking about,as Royd said.

Hi Royd,

Sorry for not being specific enough.

I´ve seen Paul use this configuration for The Boxer from the Old Friends DVD. It is also used when S&G performed on the David Letterman show at 6:21 in the clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr-5zaSjfmA). It seems he has only used this chord in post-2000 concerts.

Just to clarify, I´m referring to the third ´la, la, la´ on the final chorus.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris,it´s just an Am variation played at the fifth fret with a few hammer-ons. It night be a Am(no3rd).Try - X07500 and hammer-on the 3rd string at the 7th fret.
