 | I´m curious about the water theme that runs the album where anything to do with water is highlited in the liner notes.
What´s the story behind working with Brian Eno ? Surprise is so much better than it´s very weak (for being Paul Simon) predecessor You´re The One.

And I like Surprise even more.
So I find your question interesting, just do not call YTO weak. |

 | Yes, exactly. YTO is not weak.
Maybe one could argue that it was not what was necessary for him commercially to come back after almost 10 years out of the scene.
But YTO stands proudly in Paul´s best in my opinion. It is a very pleasurable thing to listen to.
Surprise, I do not know. 4 years after, I am still puzzled at the relevancy of some songs. Although, I recognize his full effort to make it sound as much interesting as possible. |

| I was more looking for an answer to the water theme on Surprise....
I guess we have to disagree; Sometihing is missing from YTO and not sure what it is. Sue, some songs are fantastic ie Darling Lorraine, That´s where I Belong and Senorita With A Necklace Of Tears. As a whole, think the album has something missing.
I don´t really care about what was commercial or not. I think Surprise is one of his best albums ever along with Rhythm Of The Saints, One Trick Pony, Graceland and Hearts And Bones.
I guess we have to agree to disagree ?

| senorita with a necklace of tears is so good musically and lyrically that by itself it qualifies YTO as one of Paul´s best albums and thats the way it always was, but, trying to play it on guitar makes my finger hurt |
