 | Very interesting piece on the both the lyrics and music of Paul simons work and how it relates to the breakdown of relationships. Apologies if it has been posted before.

 | Thank you for the article. I am an attorney, but I don´t handle divorces, so I found it quite interesting. I don´t recall seeing it posted before.
I read it quick, but I think I saw one mistake where they attribute a line from The Only Living Boy In New York to I Am A Rock. But I could be mistaken.
Thanks! |

 | The article says "
´Simon later would stress the concept of rhythm itself communicating a deeper message´ ...
`If you take a song that has some rhythm to it...and I don`t get the rhythm right... then the song doesn`t seem real.â? With the right rhythm, though, `the listener gives up his defense. You`re willing to entertain a number of ideas, you`re having that good a time.â? Rhythm, he said, `is good for lyrics that express emotion. And in allowing emotion to speak, rhythm connects us in anger or in Love, to others. "
This I think is why Peter Gabriel´s ´Boy in the Bubble´ is not working for me. |

 | The article also repeats the mistake that "Red Rubber Ball", was a PS solo written song. Anyone taking the trouble to read the small print, would know it was a Paul Simon/Bruce Woodley co-composition. Its still listed as such in the recent PS Lyrics book. |

 | Hi Simon D,
Thanks for this info. I don´t have the Lyrics book but often do searches on amazon´s ´look inside´ function. On searching ´Red Rubber Ball´ it doesn´t bring up Bruce Woodley credit on the copyrighted material page (due to index typo red rubberball). When I searched Bruce Woodley it came up. I wrongly thought his contribution wasn´t credited in the book. |

 | Hello Scaaty,
Once a month, a group of lawyers gather and play music or talk about a song or a musician.
So I will try to explain ( in french !) them Why PS songs are timeless. |
