Billy Joel has a great voice, but is not amongst my favorites, maybe too lightweight?

Phil Ramone wrote in his book, that Billy Joel and Elton John have a great dynamic range in their voices, so he always holds some reserves in power when recording them.

With Paul Simon and Dionne Warwick this is not necessary. They sing at a very defined loudness level.

And if Paul gets loud as in Ace In The Hole or when he "blew that room away", it doesn`t sound very good...

Scaaty, I knew it was tongue in cheek. That´s why I used this: ";-)"

You´ve seen Billy live? I envy you. I´ve never seen him, the only chance I had was for a Face to Face concert in Düsseldorf in 98 and he was ill and so Elton played alone. I wish he´d come back to Europe (preferably Germany), but now that he wants to stop touring for at least a year I guess I´ll have to wait and hope longer.

he toured in Summer of 2006/7? great concert and he really engaged with the audience despite it being a large stadium. I´m surprised if he didn´t get to Germany

He did, I just didn´t hear/read about it. After my daughter was born in 2003 I only went to few concerts anymore. And like I said, I didn´t hear about Billy´s concert(s) in Germany, unfortunately. Otherwise I would have gone.

Remind her of that in 7/8 yrs time when she wants to go to see some group that would have your hair stand on end. If yr still on talking terms that is:)

NCAA vs. NBA. If you care about something called purity (the virtue that isn´t really a virtue, but an adornment) the road finding it runs through a deep & clear-headed cynicism. "Maybe we take the gold too seriously, maybe we don´t take the gold seriously enough."
