According to an interview on WFDU radio with the band Quicksilver Paul recorded with them a kind of Afro-Cuban song with bluegrass instruments.
Interesting is also, that Mr. Simon seems to like youtube, he decided to contact the band Quicksilver after watching some clips on youtube, which Jerry Douglas recommended to him to watch for his search of a bluegrass band.

What makes these news even more exciting is a statement by Josh from Quicksilver - they hope that they can go on tour with Paul, after the album comes out in the Fall!

I would be very prudent here.

The fall thing is something announced by a third party.

Not reliable...

This sounds very promising, a possible new album in the Fall.

I checked Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver out on youtube, myspace and their official site. Great vocals, nice bluegrass songs. I like their humor on stage, it could be fun to see them on tour with Paul, but at the same time they are a bit Old fashioned, not that there is anything wrong with that but Paul?s solo concerts have a very different style where you can dance (when they are not seated:-)) sing along and have a great time.

Uh, but Paul is doing a lot of Old fashioned things in the last years ;-)

Anything new is welcome! It is good to hear, that a new album is in the making. I don?t believe that we will have new music in the fall, but we are used to be patient, aren?t we?

It would be a first if this type of rumour turned out to be fully accurate. Perhaps the fall of 2013 is more realistic. But good news for sure.

Have you listened to the interview. The guy was really thrilled about his experience.

We have more details there than what we can get from his official web site in...8 years !

I think he said that the album was kind of americana in sounds.

Well, since I am the author of a theory that says that Paul is at his best when collaborating with others, this sounds interesting.

It seems YouTube has replaced bootlegs tapes given by a friend...

I tend to believe it. And Fall of this year makes sense. Doesn´t Paul have a definite preference for doing things in even years and other things in odd years? (Didn´t he once say something about he should have known not to marry Carrie in an odd year?) Aside from his compilation/best-of albums, his latest albums of new songs have been released in even years (Graceland-86, Rhythm -90, You´re the One-2000, Surprise-06). So I´m looking for an October 2010 release (I´m guessing on his birthday) and a tour following in odd year 2011.

I hope you are right. I hadn´t thought about the even year thing with Paul´s albums. I also like even years more than odd - I didn´t know I was in such good company.

As we talk of numbers - for sure I hope a tour will follow in 2011, becaue the world will end in 2012....

P.S. I do not believe in any of these number theories, Capeman was released in 1997

And we saw how good that went, didn´t we Bodo:)That probably reaffirmed that we wants to do it in even years.

Thank you for this link. It is great to see shots like this. I am glad that Paul is working with Phil Ramone, too. The only thing I found odd is that it must have been cold in there -- everyone is bundled up.
