Oh, no! Please no! ...
I was so glad with S&G songs 30 years ago, but they belong definitely to the past. Paul shall come :) with XXI. c. melodies and texts!
(I have missed Paul last time due to the canceled Eisenstadt concert. I want to see him live but not with pop-songs from the seventies!)

Nick from Widnes England writes:

If this is true and they come to England I will be very very pleased as last time round missed them was very upset.

I have seen Paul and Art seperate loads but never together. Idid meet Art Garfunkel when he came to Liverpool and got his autograph. Would Love to get Paul´s too

Can you specify your ´reliable source´? Otherwise, I don´t believe anything. Why should they do another European Tour and leave out the US again? Also, Simon clearly stated that the Asian tour was definitely their last tour. They just did it because they left these countries out in 2003/04. So unless you can justify your claim, I don´t belive that another tour really happens!

Somehow it seems logical that they don´t just want to go through rehearsals and preparations for only one single performance at the New Orleans Jazz festival. In that perspective it sounds reasonable with a new tour.

Also note that Garfunkel doesn´t have any planned concerts between May - October.

For those who hate S&G reunions, maybe it´s time to accept that we won´t get any more classic Paul Simon albums? I prefer a reunion to more obscure songs that (almost) Nobody will listen too. Maybe Simon has reconciled with this fact too? Anyway, I think its a nice way to close the circle of their careers.

What a strange remark you made there Håkon. ´You´re the One´ went gold and got a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. A classic already! ´Surprise´ got very good reviews and will no doubt get classic status. AMG writes that "there is gentle hope and wry humor as well, giving this music a rich elegance that makes it stand among Simon´s best work (...) he has achieved it by being as restless and ambitious as he was at his popular and creative peak, which makes Surprise all the more remarkable." How come we shouldn´t expect more classic PS albums like these two? I prefer another restless and ambitious PS classic album to yet another S&G tour. And that circle of careers has been closed so many times - isn´t it about time to accept that it´s closed?

I´d take an album like Surprise over another S&G reunion anytime...

Why just settle - I would like both. A tour doesn´t take up too much time. He could still write. I agree that "You´re the One" and "Surprise" were very good albums. I play them both frequently as I do some of the older albums that didn´t sell well. "One Trick Pony" and "Hearts And Bones" are also favorites.

Oh I Love Paul´s new songs "Love And Hard Times" and "Questions For The Angels" and I think he never wrote better before then he does now.

But I also want to see Simon & Garfunkel just one time...So, Paul can do what he wants, I´ll love it.

Yes I Love all Paul´s albums but Surprise imo is the best ever. I still think though he can tour and write as well if that is what he wants to do.It should not take that much rehearsing especially if they have the same band. Also. Paul is not only a songwriter but a great performer as well and there are still heaps of people out there who will love to see Simon and Garfunkel again or for the first time.I saw them last year and it was magic. they both had solo spots as well so their show catered for everyone.I wish Paul would come to Australia with his own show as well but I think it unlikely.I remember a couple of years ago on the forum this same discussion and it got very heated!but in the end they will do what they both want and maybe we should respect that.

Humm...I don´t know what to think !

For the time being, there is no S&G 2010 tour confirmed...so, it is a bit prematured as a discussion. But I agree that it would be special for them to gather all musicians for a sole act in New Orleas, without other dates.

Personally, I think he should now take a break from these tours and refocus on his stuff, but my opinion is of absolutely no value in his agenda. Big money talks loud, big time!

The discussion is interesting though in the sense that some of us seemed to have given up the thought of a possible new Graceland phenomenon. I mean by that a very strong album, with commercial and critical appeal. Actually, I am more in that mood too, unfortunately.

It sounds similar to the same situation as in the early 1980´s where being a Simon fan was targeted as being nostalgic.

All in all though, a new S&G tour would be a huge blow to my fan-inesenship (invented word).

Paul changes his mind constantly. I remember in the1990´s he said he would never tour again!! and I hope it would not be for the money as most of his solo tours either lost money or only broke even as he would only use the best musicians (his own words).

<< given up the thought of a possible new Graceland phenomenon. I mean by that a very strong album, with commercial and critical appeal. >>
I think commercial success of an new album depends a lot on whether Paul is able to promote the album and get airplay.
I remember he was in Australia promoting Graceland. Probably required by Warners as they ´had serious doubts about releasing an album of this category to the mainstream´. I don´t remember any of the others being promoted here at all.
I noticed on the Concerts list on this website, he did a promo tour for ´You´re the One´ which might explain its greater success, he didn´t promote it in Aus.
