So, I was wondering:

What is everyone´s favorite Paul Simon Saturday Night Live moment?

I think my favorite is when he is in a western skit. Some "kids" are being bullied at the ice cream shop and the kids keep telling the bullies that he is going to come to save them. My favorite part is when he finally comes he is only like 5´3" and like 110 bs or something, and he kicks the door in and he kicks it so hard that it comes right back and slams him in the face...

I just liked it because his comedy is usually sarcastic or verbal word play, but in this instance it was just slapstick and visually hilarious.

Paul´s look on his face and Ray Phiri´s reaction when the Sweeny Sisters serenaded him with a medley of his songs.

If possible, could you please tell us the episode # and/or date so that we could find them? Thanks.

It´s a wonderful skit "Still Sweeney´s" from SNL 12/19/1987. I mentioned Ray Phiri but also Isaac Mtshali had a great time, they both sat at the table with Paul when the Sweeney Sisters brought their serenade. It´s officially released on the bonus DVD of The Essential Album in 2007.

I will choose the basketball game against Connie Hawkins from the first show he did, especially when he calls Marv Albert ´Howard" (Cosell) and Marv whispers "Marv, Marv."

Not very creative, but the Turkey sketch is still his best one IMO.

For me basketball comes first too.

For me it is also the turkey. I don´t even have to hear him start the song. Just the look on his face gets to me evey time. And the idea that it was his idea just makes it that much more funny to me.

I must agree with Bodo on this, I Love the Turkey sketch.

I did once see another brilliant sketch with Paul in, but it wasn´t SNL. He´s with John Candy. Paul´s a store assistant in the wild west and John comes to purchase his stuff. Paul´s grabbing all this stuff, up and down step ladders and so forth. Only for John to change his mind and not want any of it...Brilliant...But it´s not SNL and doesn´t count!

You know, the John Candy sketch reminded me of the brilliant Two Ronnies ´Four Candles´ sketch. Very funny!!

The debut of Call Me Al with Ladysmith.
Paul on Bongos. Comedy: waiting in movie line recognizing everybody who passes by except Artie.
