How many of you bought the Book of Paul Simon´s Lyrics 1964 - 2008
I note that missing from the book is "The Side Of A Hill" None the less an excellent book reminding us what a great writer Paul is.
Lets hope he produces a second volume explaining his thoughts behind the songs. He has often mentioned how certain songs came about during interviews. For example:
"Mother And Child Reunion" was writen apparantly after Paul had a chinese meal of Chicken and Eggs (Mother and Child Reunion) how bizare.

 | There was a thread in May that discusses the Side of a Hill. I Love Scarborough Fair and only recently discovered the Canticle lyrics were from Side of a Hill. Of all the times I heard played Scarborough Fair on piano in the 70s I never paid any attention to the canticle lyrics. One of the first songs I downloaded on iTunes was Side of a Hill to find out more about the song and lyrics. I also love the Paul Simon Songbook (also this vesion of Simple Desultory Philippic) , it would have been great to be going to the folk clubs in England to see him, his voice was so clear and strong. |

 | Also missing from the book and also from paulsimon.com lyrics page is ´Cuba Si, Nixon No´. Does anyone know, was this song written by Paul? I heard the song on youtube, but wanted to know the words. I would think Paul thought it was important to want to put it on BOTW album. |

I have an bootleg audio tape of Simon and Garfunkel live in 1968. Paul performed the song at the show and art sang the then new Bridge Over Troubled Water

 | actually, I think I heard an interview where Paul said he did not order the dish, but kept the name for a song. Makes sense since I think around that time Paul was a vegetarian. |

 | I loved that song until I heard what
it was really about. Some reunion.
I have to think of something else, even
when it first came out I didn´t understand why a Mother And Child Reunion would be so sad.
