 | It is on HBO.I can´t wait to see what they include. Considering the two concerts lasted about 12 hours, there is a lot of cutting to do. I hope they include most of Paul and S and G. What a night that was- I am so grateful I got to see it. |

Hope you guys can supply a report to the forum and any highlights thats not already on Youtube of Simon and Garfgunkel/Paul Simon Solo.
Hope it gets a region 2 release on DVD.

 | Watching the HBO special tonight was a wonderful chance to revisit that magical night. The only simon and Garfunkel song they didn´t show was Cecilia. Paul solo only You Can Call Me Al was shown, but they did show him singing Here Comes the Sun with Crosby and Nash and doing back up for Dion. I believe a DVD of the concerts is to come out after the first of the year. I don´t know if it will include all of both nights. In any case I got all teary eyed again seeing Paul and S and G (and all of the wonderful performers). What a night! |

 | I have to respectfully disagree with Nancy. Considering the amount of awful songs they showed, it was a shame they almost completely cut Paul´s solo set.
Garfunkel looked (and sounded) especially bad (he needs a new toupee and take better care of what is left of his voice), but at least S&G sang by themselves without including other inappropriate performers. On the other hand, Paul looked and sounded terrific, but he was clearly an exception to the almost universal ´over the hill´ feeling presented.
It was like an oldies show in which
anyone they could think of was thrown together. Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt were okay. But overall they had some truly bizarre (and terrible) combinations of performers performing badly such as James Taylor singing on a Steven Stills rocker. Even B.B. King was dragged out to struggle through "The Thrill is Gone" which is a good song, but it is blues, not rock and roll. And he looked and acted like he should retire, which seemed to be the lesson most of the performers should have learned.
I for one am really glad I went to see Leonard Cohen give a terrific concert instead of this all star mess. It must have been better in person, but what HBO showed was sad. |

 | Yeah, I was a bit puzzled too, that Paul´s solo set was cut off deeply.
Does it send the message that the real stuff that belongs to history is really S&G ? That would be paranoia interpretation I guess.
I thought at 1st that it was because they had some many good songs and performers to choose from, they had to cut somewhere... |
