 | Does anyone know what Paul will be doing in 2010. Will he make a new album or perhaps go on tour again?? Perhaps someone found something on the net, Rumors perhaps but is there any news on this?

 | It´s POSSIBLE that he MIGHT START writing another song. The album will eventually be out 2014 or later... |

 | We might have to put the next album togethery by ourself. Piece per piece....songsnippet there, chord there :)
But hey, what can we say - he is 68 years now, so he can also retire. |

 | LOL !!!
An album in 2010 ? Good question...who knows...
It would certainly be late in the year, if we are lucky. Probably more 2011.
I like when it is boring over here and (almost) nothing happens with Paul. It might mean that he is writing !
Paul might be as free as he was before Graceland. Except for us, Nobody is waiting a new album from him. On what route is he going to take us ? |

 | 2014 is not possible, sorry.
I heard from a very trusthfull source that the world will end in 2012 |

 | The end of the world in 2012 is not correct anymore ;-)
The scientists Andreas Fuls and Bryan Wells mention that there is a mistake in the calculation with the conversion from the Maya calender, the world will not end in 2012 but in 2220.
So Paul will have plenty of time for a new album and tour :)
How about a collaboration album with one or more other great songwriters/musicians. He could do beautiful collaborations with young musicians and musicians from his own age. Paul is good at all kind of music genres, it could become a real treasure.

 | I have been thinking about a theory on Simon´s solo albums, it would say that it is indeed when there is a very big connection with other musicians, a collaborative work, that he was very successful. The most shining example is Graceland, of course.
Where he was almost alone on board, the success was not at the same level. I am talking more about Surprise, Hearts And Bones, even The Capeman.
Just a theory (although I already put a copyright MOG 2009 on it)... LOL !!! |

 | Yet it is those very three albums that are the favourite with fans |

 | Hm, I am not really sure about the collaboration theory.
The Capeman was a collaboration, and a big flop, also Surprise was a collaboration with a few other musicians (including Brian Eno and others)
While on the other hand some of his big hits in the 70´s weren´t any collaborations (Late In The Evening, 50 ways, Kodachrome, Still crazy a.s.o.).
Graceland was a big hit, but when Paul tried the same thing again with Southamerican musicians, it did not get that big applause.
Anyway - I have a feeling that the time of the really big albums and hits is over today. That is sad to realize. Today everyone can listen to a much wider field of music, or has other interests (computer games, social networks...) - and some like us are still listening to the Old songs. Graceland released today - I guess it would not sell more than
800000 copies. |

 | Why do I say that? Well, this decade is nearly over - and I still wonder: What songs will we remember from the time between 2000 and 2009? Is it just me, am I too Old? Did I miss anything important? I don´t think so, the biggest selling and most known stars are still from the 80´s (U2, Madonna), although I do not know a memorable song they released in the last 10 years. |

 | Just as you mention both Brian Eno and U2, a snippet of useless gossip for you. While in a waiting room last week, I read in the" Irish Star" that Brian Eno says that Bono hates being in a night club and seeing people dance to music that is not U2!
Thought I ´d share that fascinating piece of info with you. I obviously don´t read enough of the "real" news:)) |
