I have seen some of the clips of Paul Simon performing on Tour With Bob Dylan. In The clips Paul uses a Parker Night Fly Guitar. Whilst Dylan uses possibly a Gibson acoustic.

Did any one from the forum attend any of these joint concerts if so what did you think?

Over to you guys.

Was my first Paul Simon concert.

Blame me, but I had such bad seats, in the beginning I did not even realize if Paul was on stage. There was a guy in Dylans band who had a haircut like Paul in the 80´s...so I thought he is already there, but they never played a PS song. I was really down. :)

My first concert, so I guess it will always be the best one in my memories. Some Dylan fans left the stadion after his set, they thought Paul is horrible. It was the other way around for me.

IMO the duets where not really that amazing. Although Paul said he loved it. I think its impossible to sing together with Dylan, but thats because his voice is completely on the other side of the range, compared to Mr. Garfunkel.

The highlight for me - and I did not even realize that this happened only at this one night in New York. The Capeman cast sang Born in Puerto Rico with Paul.

I Love to have a DVD of that concert or even a CD. Was it ever recorded?

Bootlegs have been out there since 1999.

I do not know why Paul has not put out some great stuff from his tours since 1999 as a bonus for fans, instead of serving the same Old compilation.

Bridge from the MSG 1999 show has been released as a bonus on one of these compilations.

I believe it is rather ´Mrs. Robinson´ that was released from this tour.

Bridge with Neville was from 2001.

oh right, Robinson.

for sure...I expected something like ´Trailways Bus´ or Born in Puerto Rico... and so in the end it was just one of these S&G classics which have been released 10 times before. I mix them up :-D

I was also lucky to get to 3 of the Simon Dylan tour of 1999 - Anaheim, Hollywood Bowl and San Deigo, and they were great shows (especially remembering he hadn´t toured for 7-8 years and was on record saying he didn´t think he would again).

The sets were shorter than say 2000 or 2002 at about 80 - 100 minutes depending on whether he was first or last on that night. Luckily 2 of the nights I attended he was on second and those shows were better for me.

I really enjoyed Dylan as well, and my prior concert experience with Dylan back home in New Zealand about 14 years before had been dissapointing. These concerts really made me appreciate Time Out of Mind.

The Simon part of the shows was more Rhythm Of The Saints material which was pleasing for me as it is/was my favourite album. I enjoyed hearing it again and especially the songs not played back in 1991 born at right time tour such as Can´t Run But and Further To Fly.

Since then I have been to subsequent Simon concerts in 2000, 2002 and 2008. Mrs Robinson has been an absolute highlight especially since the 2002 show. This has nothing to do with the "and garfunkel" part, it is all because of the guitar parts which have been reworked so that this really in my mind is not a S&G songs anymore - it is much more. A good example of this is the bootleg DVD from the 2006 BBC private concert at St Lukes - A must have for any fan.
