Does any one remember the Paul Simon Appreciation Society which was run by two ladies Sheila and Barbara based in Kendal Cumbria England.
I was a member till it closed down, in fact I even bought one of the last few remaining Simon and Garfunkel Wembley Stadium 1982 T Shirt with the original Stadium on the reverse.
How many of you guys where members. I think the club ran around the time of The Graceland Tour.
Any ex members let me know over to you guys

I meant to say I bought The Wembley Stadium 1982 S & G Tour Shirt through the Paul Simon Appreciation Society. Its black with Simon and Garfunkel on front, the stadium on reverse. Unfortunatly its size large and I am now XL. So can not fit into it any more keep as might be valuable.

 | Hello Nick,
I asked the same question on this forum back in August 2006 and got a few answers.
If you type ´PSAS´ in full in the search box of the forum you will get access to the thread.
I have very fond memories of the PSAS ! |

 | I was a member too. Very fanatic ladies. Still have their ´fanzines´. What is it that it stopped all of a sudden? |

Unfortunatly the ladies who ran the Paul Simon Appreciation Society changed jobs and found that sadly could no longer comite the necessary time to continue to run the society.
Thankfully we have here instead!!!

 | I got their output without membership.
One of the papers began: Welcome back, (fans) and welcome back, Paul Simon, on top of the album charts (UK, 3 weeks after release).
Then they told how difficult to find the album Graceland under "S" in stores, with S&G of course still present with an own topic and some of their albums.
Curious, Simon had three Number 1 albums in the UK, none of which was number one in the US, but "Still crazy" was. |

 | Difficult to find Graceland under S?
Did they try to find it under G...or P ? :)
You also will find "Nebraska" under S, and not under B or N.
But I think it might be much more difficult for fans of ´Scissors Cut´, because they will not find it under S, but G. - usually - But I guess then you also demand that S&G should be found under G ;-)

 | Hello Bodo, you were Born At The Right Time!
Until Graceland, Paul Simon was about 55 or 60 percent of S&G in Europe. And G had two big Nr. 1 Singles in Europe, "I only have...Bright eyes".
Especially after drugs...
Sorry in advance. |

 | Hi Klausi :) I like that song.
I also always demanded a pure "Paul Simon" category... but thought it is okay when his albums just appear mixed in between the S&G ones.
I am not sure if G has his own A.G. category today, or if his albums can just be found under "G"...or "Others"...or "2 for 1"

 | In any record store here Paul Simon has his own section, as does Simon and Garfunkel. The bigger stores also have an Artie section under G, but its usually too far away from S for me to check. |

 | Yes...but Ireland has the highest number of Paul Simon fans per square :) |

 | You wouldn´t think so listening to our national radio - he rarely gets a mention unlike Leonard, Bob and that largely unknown local band U2! But yes all his concerts quietly sell out within a day with little or no fanfare! we´re a very subdued bunch of people |

 | Hi Bodo,
I think it would be interesting to find out which country has the most of your meanwhile more than 1000 members compared to the total of inhabitants of the country. |

 | Great!
Scandinavia (his tour in 2000 (2002?) began there) is interesting and Czech.
Vaclav Havel convinced him to come in 1991.
