Hi Massecb Check out the following information re Paul´s guitars:

Brad´s Paul Simon Guitar Tablature Page

Web Address:

http://www.bradpriddy.com/paul_simon/guitar.htm

This is a highly detailed article with phots of some of Paul´s guitar collection listing the main models he has used.

Paul has also used Fender guitars inc the Stratocaster.

In 1965 whilst in England Paul came to my home town of Widnes to perform at a local folk club as part of his northern England Tour and stayed a week with the promoter Mr Geoff Speed.

Years latter I was running a guitar club sponsored by Fender´s Agents in England The Arbiter Group. at one of our meetings I arranged for Mr Speed to come along and talk about Paul´s Vist. During the meeting he actualy bought a guitar he owened that he let Paul Play which in turn I got to try.l Not shure of the make and model it was a clssical style though. Paul played "Angie" by Dave Graham on it, when Geoff and his wife had a duaghter they named her Angie after the tune Paul played.

I first took up the acoustic guitar because of Paul Simon when I was 12 - 13 years Old. Now age 38 I own eight four acoustic and four electric. My main acoustic is a black Epiphone SQ180 Signature Don Everly whilst my main electric is a Signature Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster.

Do you play Massecb, if so what guitar do you play. I do not claim to be a fantastic guitarist just mainly playing for fun. Sadley when Fender swaped agents here in England the Fender Club closed down and I no longer run my guiitar Club.

Let me know your guitar searh details as I would be very intreseted to complete my reshearch into all of Paul´s guitars.

thanks nick!
yes, i do play a bit myself, but only for fun and it has never been a serious endeavor. now im finally at that point where i want a new guitar. the one i have, we bought at a flea market for my little brother many years ago. its done well - until now. haha. i have been researching some guitar info. and since paul is my fav, it made me wonder what type of guitars he plays. i know that what i need in a guitar is separate from what he uses, haha, but i just got curious and thought it would be fun to know. I dont know if you have any expertise on guitars, but i might could use some advice. I have small fingers and i travel from school to home alot, so a small guitar might be best. Obviously, I value sound over size, but if you have any suggestions, id Love to hear them. thanks!!

There are many diffeerent acoustic and electric guitars available. Depending on the style you wish to play, also the cost.

I would advice a trip to a local guitar shop, try a few out in your price range. Several companies offer a beginner package ie:

Guitar
Spare Strings
Tuner
Strap
Leather Case

A good quality guitar is best. Over in England you can get a good deal on the beginner guitar deal.

Unfortunaly I do not know the US guitar market so can not advise you.

If you have not had proper lessons then sign up with a tutor. It is important that we get the freting hand sorted asap, as the angle you press down on the string is very important.

The most importnat advice practise practice practise. Good luck

keep me informed of your progress via the Forum. Did you check out the article I gave you the web address for info on Paul´s Guitars?
