Hi Hakan

Well, thats a long time ago, I can not find the article now. (but I guess someone else here has a better memory)

I think the deal was that they share the income for the concerts 50/50, and so all the income for this best of CD released just before the tour would go to Paul.
But they both also had to fight for their money when the live album and DVD has been released, because then the record company did not want them pay the full percentage again, because they said these are all Old songs and are just released again. BUt S&G got their money in the end (I think this might be one of the reasons why the recorded "Citizen of the planet" - to have 1 new song)

Even so, I´m pretty certain that the "composer royalty" is one factor in itself and the "artist royalty" is another. I think it´s the later one that they negotiated with record companies and maybe they decided to split that so Paul got more than Art (allthough I don´t quite understand why, since Paul would have got his composer royalty anyway)...

This is only about the Old Friends DVD/CD

S&G´s new live CD & DVD release posponed from Jimmie , 2004-08-17

According to some reliable sources from Sony-Columbia/Legacy label the forthcoming S&G´s new live CD and DVD release (recorded in MSG, New York last year 2003) is postponed due to economical disagreements between S&G and the label. Sony supposed as they were the owners of Old S&G catalogue they would release this new stuff automatically and under the same economical conditions as usual. However both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel consider it as a new stuff which is not linked or related to old catalogue, so they want new economical terms. In this moments Sony and both artists managers are on conversations about this one. The label says they do not expect any news about this one until next October. It is ignored if there is no agreement what label would release this new stuff.

---- I have to find the news/article about how they splitted the money on the 2003/04 tours. But I am pretty sure it was written that they share the concert incommes 50/50, and Paul gets all the money for this Best Off CD released just with the tour...

Yes, I remember reading the article you posted, Bodo. I interpret it as Sony & S&G didn´t agree on how much money the artist/duo S&G would make per sold CD. It doesn´t seem reasonable (or logical) to me that Art wouldn´t get anything from the CD sales. But I think you may presume right about why "Citizen of the Planet" was finally included.
