Given that the source is Wikipedia,I´m hesitant to believe this one. I just read on Wikipedia´s entry on Paul, that he was arrested in 1974...for possession of 9 ounces of cannabis! Now,this seems highly unlikely in my opinion. Has anyone ever heard of this dubious claim? I think personally that someone(possibly under the age of 5:-))is confusing Paul Simon with Paul McCartney. Macca was arrested in Japan in 1979 for possession of,I believe,9 ounces of cannabis. It brings to mind that I had an ongoing battle with some musically ignorant youngsters on Youtube recently, who believed that The Beatles either wrote and recorded the well known version Of Mrs Robinson,or that they did a cover of the Simon song, but only did it better than S&G,but the version they were talking about IS S&G!! So it´s not the first time this odd mistake has been made.

Nick from Widnes England writes:

Did not hear about Paul Simon being busted for posetion. Although he did mention in the Song Paranoa Blues how he gets stopped at JFK Airport and his guitar case searched.

Art Garfunkel has been stopped twice in his car apparently under the infulance of narcotics and in posetion. At least thats whet the British Media has reported.

In the late 70´s Sir Paul McCartney formed the group "Wings" and did a major tour of North America 3 disc Album "Wings Over America" on which backing guitarist Denny Lane recorded a live 12 string acoustic version of Paul Sinmon´s song "Richard Corry". The Beatles never recorded any of Paul Simon´s songs, although George did perfrom "Homewardbound" and "Here Comes The Sun" with Paul Simon.

Paul Simon told Rolling Stone about his LSD trip in the South at the time before the Monterrey Festival, he was one of the organizers.

Around this time he wrote some of his weakest songs as he stated in his introduction of the sheet book in 1972:

"In late 1966/1967 I hit a dry patch and the songs from that period don`t seem so great to me now".
(At The Zoo, Fakin` it etc.)

Carrie Fisher took drugs as long as she was with Paul and some of the SNL-crew apparently did it too. But he striktly refused.

He did smoke some MJ in the early days but quit early on. It can be tough on the clinically depressed.

Yes,I know he has a history of use. He was quoted as saying that he was stoned virtually everyday for a certain period of his life. My main question is ´did he ever get arrested at an airport in 1974 for possession of 9 ounces of the drug´? I personally don´t think this ever happened, and is just another example of Wikipedia´s tenuous grasp of the facts. As Paul explained about the lyrics of ´Paranoia Blues´,that he was often given undue attention by customs agents at airports, due to the fact that he had long hair and carried a guitar, but I think if he had been arrested for possession,it would be a well known fact amongst ´Simonophiles´. That´s what I think anyway.

Me, Jupira
Still facing login problems- do you think Paul is able to remember all the passwords one has to have nowadays?? Maybe we should put then in musical form, just to make things easier...
Back to the point, once I read a quite interesting enterview where Paul talked a little bit about the using of drugs time.I´m not sure since I read it in Portugese, but If I´m not mistaken it was from Rolling Stones magazine. Some very original comments.Gave me wish of reading more about and/or the original text - in english
If some of you have that and /or any printable material about "Paul and Drugs",could you please send it to my mail??

Here it goes:

What a fantastic interview - thanks Jozsef! I especially Love the part where Paul talks about wanting to think about how the mind works and how it responds to music, it just displays yet again his amazingly intellectual approach to music. Does anyone know what concert the footage was from?

Also I can´t download the video with RealPlayer - does anyone know a way around this?

Well done on handing your thesis in Scaaty :)! I´m drowned in work at the moment myself, it must be a huge relief to have such a significant project finally completed!

Real Player.... I hate this thing. It seems to infiltrate my computer, then plays a video once, and in a few weeks no other video format will work on my computer.
