 | Nick from Widnes England Writes:
It was announced on Friday that Mr Les Paul has died on Thursday age 94.
Les Paul was a fantastic guitarist and inventor. He was responsible for the guitar Gibson named after him. Also for multie track recording equipment.
Without Les Paul we would not have modern recording studios aqnd be unable to hear and recreate the music of Paul Simon.

 | He was a real innvator and a great talent when I was a kid. He had a couple great hit recordings with his wife Mary Ford. As a guitarist he was amazing. |

 | I saw him in 2006 at the Iridium in New York. He was doing two shows every Monday night. He was 91 then. He said that him mother lived to be 107 so he had just signed another ten year contract. He was wonderful and very funny. Jimmy Buffett slipped in that night to see him, and Les called him up on stage to do a set with him. Even though he was troubled with severe arthritis in his hands, he could still play great. After the show he stayed to greet all who wanted to talk to him. He was a very gifted musician and a great inventor. The Iridim is just a half block from Paul´s office in the Brill Building. I imagine that he would have dropped in to play with Les a time or two. Wouldn´t that have been something to see? |

 | That certainly would have been something to see Nancy. Is there any way to find out I wonder,if Paul ever did play with L Paul? The truly astonishing thing about him, besides his guitar playing,is his invention of the multitrack recording principle,as already mentioned in the opening thread. By recording his guitar, then playing it back whilst a second recorder taped not only the original sound, but his own second guitar as well,he had created in effect,a one man band. That principle is used by every recording artist to this day,and the results are enjoyed by all who listen to music, even if they don´t understand technically, what they are hearing. Wonderful! Thank you,and Rest in Peace Mr Les Paul. |
