Okay, I didn´t want to put it in the title of the thread... but after Jacko´s death I keep wondering how it will be when Paul dies.
(I am 31 years Old so I think it okay to assume that he dies before me).

How will I feel in the moment when I get the news ? How will the general public react ? How will Artie react (assumed that he´s still alive then) ? Will there be tribute shows ?

What do you think ?
Or do you ignore thoughts like that ?

I hope I don´t offend anyone with these thoughts... I am just wondering what other Paul-fans think about it...

I think that´s a really difficult question that you could possibly apply to anyone, but sometimes I put myself in the shoes of the true MJ fans. I think one thing that would really bother me if I was an MJ fan, is all the people who are saying "oh yah, I´m a huge fan. I always have been." Honestly, I think a majority of those people were probably the same people who turned on him during those trials.

I hope for 2 things when either Paul or Art go:
1. That neither of them have controversial deaths. I would hate for either of them to become a circus like MJ or for them to be remembered MORE because of their deaths than their lives.
2. That their deaths do not become over-shadowed by another celebrity or news story. I hope that they both have time where people can sit back and reflect and say "he was great and now he´s gone, but pieces of him lives on in music, and he made a difference. we owe some of what we are to him."

I know that MJ made a big difference, but his death has become more famous than his life. I think it almost reduces the value of his work, when a kid hears an MJ song on the radio and he asks "who is that?" and the parents say "a singer who was accused of molesting children, having a fake nose, and died alone in his home, and it took them 2 months to bury him."

At least, I feel, with Art and Paul, they will be remembered for their music and impact, and not for their individual choices and lives.

Most definately there will be tributes... I mean, there are tributes to him now and he´s still kicking and showing no signs of slowing down either!!!

I agree with you massecb. Although I´m hoping Paul and Artie have at least another 15-20 years left, everyone passes and it´s a part of life itself (if Tony Bennett is still performing, so can Paul and Artie) :)

With Michael Jackson, the thing is that alot of people are going to remember him for the trials and the whole suit of accusations against him. Another number of people are still going to remember him for his musical impact he had in the industry. Paul is so personal and doesn´t do anything too confrontational today that gets him in the media that often, unless it´s about his music (the most fuss I can remmeber about Artie is the pot bust several years ago, but even then it didn´t get too much news).

For the Paul/Artie/S&G fans everywhere, there is no doubt that they´re going to be remembered for the music. The music that lasted for half a century. Not many can lay claim to that statement.

Paul Simon once said in an interview that he doesn´t want to be remembered for the song "Feelin´ Groovy." ahttp://wwwww.

...and that´s all I have to say about that.

I agree with everything you said too massecb. Another interview from 07 which I was reading today (lol yes today was a catch up on Paul´s reviews / interviews session) had Paul speculating that they´ll play BOTW at his memorial, and then pretending to write his will "Please do not play... and if you must, then please make it the Aretha Franklin version".

On a more serious note then yes I do think about it from time to time but try not to. But his music increasingly refer to the themes of aging and mortality and I actually find songs like Quiet a bit disturbing, as beautiful as it is.

i am so glad you said that about "Quiet". i Love the song, but it does dampen my spirits for a minute...

Although, "Old" doesnt make me feel that way. It´s alot more fun and has an attitude with it.

Where did you read that? Lol-now I want to read it!!! I need to follow a pro around and see what they have been reading - I´m so far behind!
