 | I didn´t know about this one. Apparently, they were (performing?) guests at a charity event that also featured Australian golfing legend Greg Norman. Together they raised $36,000 for victims of the devastating Victorian bushfires earlier this year. The article doesn´t say they performed, but it would seem to be a lost opportunity if they didn´t.

 | I just read an article and apparently they performed for the residents of the town - it must have been a great treat :) |

 | Fantastic! A great treat alright. Hi Nikki,I´m guessing you´re feeling the same kind of empty sadness that I´m feeling at the moment, with the knowledge that the tour is essentially finished and the guys will soon leave our shores. At least we will have the beautiful memories of some fantastic shows to soothe us. |

 | My feeling is more that Paul Simon needs to bring back is solo show (which has never been to NZ).
The solo segment certainly gave NZ and Australian audiences a taste of what we have missed out on this past decade ( Sydney concert night one was 10 years to the day that I went to my first Simon/Dylan concert) which is the start of probably Paul´s most consistent run of concert performing over any prior decade since Simon & Garfunkel days.

 | Yes Gerard,I agree! A solo Paul Simon tour would be most appreciated. The more I think about the shows I saw,the solo set by Paul was so good-I envy you guys that saw him in 2008. Must have been something indeed. When he played Graceland on the second night in Brisbane,it was a totally thrilling performance, and as I said before,The Boy In The Bubble just kicked. Aaaah, what memories! |

This one?
They entertained the crowd...so I guess they performed..?
Or did Artie tell some jokes? :-D |

 | Yeah, that´s the one Bodo. I just read another article on the benefit, which states that the night raised $660,000,not the $36,000 mentioned in the first report. And yes,it appears they did actually perform. |

 | Ian,
I didn´t realize the Graceland had been added to Paul´s set in Brisbane. What did he take out?
I haven´t seen any video of Paul performing Graceland on YouTube yet, hopefully some will turn up at some stage.
It certainly would´ve been awesome to see Graceland, boy in the bubble was an absolute highlight of the shows in Auckland.

 | Hi Stefan, his solo section was certainly a highlight for me too. ´Graceland´ replaced ´Me and Julio´ on the second night. I´m always amazed at the bands Paul puts together, and the one quality that always stands out in his live shows,is the dynamics. Unfortunately,no youtube video can recreate the splendid impact of the live sound direct from the PA. ´The Boy In The Bubble´ just rocked in my opinion and the band/sound dynamics were just awesome. I too would like to know if he played ´Graceland´ at any other shows. I think he played ´Late In The Evening´ too somewhere-maybe in Sydney. That must have been great too. Solo tour please? |

 | Ian,
Wes the musicians for the Simon and Garfunkel tour were certainly talented. The concert was worth going to see just for that alone!
Yes, YouTube can´t replicate the concert experience, but it´s better than nothing. I wish they would sell the concert online to those who attended, another way to make money and would allow us to have a decent recording.
Yes he did play Late In The Evening on one night in Sydney.
Rather than a solo tour I´d rather see Simon and Garfunkel sing some Paul Simon solo songs together. I just came across Art Garfunkel singing on The Late Great Johnny Ace during the 1983 tout, and Garfunkel´s harmonies can improve an average Paul Simon song to outstanding.

 | Yes Stefan,I believe I know that live recording you mentioned, and you´re correct-Artie´s harmonies(and the bluesy electric guitar)really add another dimension to it. Great stuff. As I said,Paul always puts great bands together. The band this time around were awesome, but the band from 83 was equally awesome too. The 83 tour had a harder edge(wasn´t Paul trying to cement S&G reputation as a ´rock´ act on that tour?). It also featured a 4 piece horn section that added true power to the arrangements. It was a great show! |

 | I know what you mean Ian! I´ve spent the past week feeling so happy that Paul was actually here in my city, and every afternoon when I catch the train over the Bridge I´d think, hey they´re probably in one of those hotels right now seeing the same view. Lol ok it sounds a little obsessive I know.
I would have loved to hear Late In The Evening live, especially after that TV performance he gave a few weeks ago. Paul has got to come back for a solo tour, I think if he kept the prices more reasonable it would be just as big a sellout as the S&G shows, especially if people have just been reminded to his talent. Listening to conversations after the concerts, everyone was raving about his songwriting and his voice. |
