 | I heard a rumor about a brand new Art Garfunkel album which Art Garfunkel will be singing his favorite Paul Simon solo material. Some of the songs supposedly on the album will be American Tune, Train In The Distance, Heatrs and Bones and Slip Sliding Away. Can anyone confirm these rumors??

 | If that happens one can mix Simon´s versions of the songs together with Garfunkel´s and then we would have a new S&G album! :-) |

 | No, we would then have just another S and G compilation album, lol. But great idea anyway. PS: best wishes from Thailand... |

 | Well since Paul won´t agree to a new S&G album I guess this is Artie´s solution... Sorry I shouldn´t be mean on the eve of the tour :)
Wow Thailand! Are you sticking around to see S&G in Japan by any chance Kuno? And we all know the forum is addictive, I can´t go for a day without it. |

 | hm, you can upload in the excessive fan section.
Sorry I can not download anything from rapidshare. I am not sure why people use this service, I have downloaded something 2 weeks ago, and since that time the page writes: You have reached your download limit, upgrade to paid service.
I am not going to pay for a download of a private made file...
Do you have a paid account there?

 | No, I have a free membership. After u download one file, u have to wait 15 mins to download another file with the free membership. I tried uploading it to excessive fans. It wont let me. |

 | I put it in the excessive fans now. It´s a small part of an interview, I don´t think Art says he will do it, there was a suggestion from the interviewer which he answered to. |

 | Thanks Ans
Well this rapidshare service seems either to hate me, or they try to get everyone to upgrade to a paid account...?
I tried it a second time now, and the page wrote something like:
Your IP Adress 215.233.14.176 is already downloading this file... ???!!
Thats interesting, because 215.xxxx is not even my own IP adress. :)
For me it is pure luck to get a download there. And it never said I have to wait another 15 minutes.

 | Nick from Widnes England writes:
The original reunion concert 19 September 1981 with both Paul and Art in Central Park was basicly for the most part solo songs from Paul´s 70´s period. So we already have Art Garfunkel singing the solo recordings of Paul Simon.
As to Art actualy reocrding a tribute to the solo songs of Paul Simon quite a few would not sound right as they are written to suit Paul and not Art´s voice.

 | When Paul Simon had the struggle with Columbia in 1977/78, his proposal to release him from his contract, which could only be terminated after one more album, was to record an album of songs he loves but not written by himself.
Columbia refused (which I fully understand because Simon`s image is the ultimate songwriter), and the solution was "Greatest Hit`s etc". out of only three albums with two new songs. Additionally Simon had to pay 1,5 Million Dollars to Columbia and went to Warners. The album sold more than a million in the US alone as did the single "Slip slidin` away", a quiet song in the time of Punk and Disco music. Probably the Simon song which made it mainly because of the sad lyrics.
For a short time he hold the record for the highest paid recording contract then with a guaranty of about three million dollars per album.
Until Graceland it was a very bad deal for Warners...
Even if Garfunkel would sing Simon-songs I would not listen. The last Garfunkel album I bought was "Watermark" (1978) because Simon sings on "What a wonderful world" (this could be if Simon would write and record more new songs)... |
