I just read that Sony are releasing a special Australia & New Zealand Tour edition of the ´Old Friends,Live on Stage´ DVD/CD pack. This appears to be no different to the earlier release, other than the addition of the words ´Australia & New Zealand Tour Edition´ on the front cover. Great??? I guess for people who haven´t already purchased it,it´ll be a nice thing to own, especially if they are attending one of the shows. Actually,I can´t speak for NZ television, but Sony are certainly promoting the ´Essential S&G´ CD on Australian television,as well as advertising the concerts themselves. In addition Channel 9 played an hour and a half of the ´Old Friends´ DVD on sunday, interspersed with interviews with Paul and Art. All in all this tour is turning into quite an event.

I´ve actually discovered that my Old Friends DVD has been badly scratched, so this is kind of good news :)
And they played an S&G segment on Channel 9 Ian? Why do I always miss these things - even though I check the programme every week? Were the interviews any good?
And I hope you´re not hit by the floods Ian.

No,missed the floods again thanks Nikki. Yeah,I don´t think that the Ch9 showing of ´Old Friends´ was a pre-shceduled programme. Certainly it didn´t show up on the EPG of my digital set-top box. I think that the promoters of the tour are a little concerned that some of the concerts have sold out all tickets except for the platinum and gold sections, and it would be unfortunate for any artist to see a mass of empty seats directly in front of them. The interviews they played were the Richard Wilkens one from a couple of weeks back. Hows the guitar going Nikki? Finding any time to practise? Try not to make it a chore Nikki. I have guitars in nearly every room in the house, and I find practising in front of the tv a great way to go about it. Just quietly playing a piece you´re working on whilst watching tv helps you to do it almost unconsciously after a while. I haven´t explained that very well, but that´s the basic idea anyway:-)

That´s good to hear Ian.
No I have to admit that I have made very little progress on the guitar - I´m just really bad at motivating myself to stick to things in general. I´ve ordered an electronic tuner off the net and I´ve told myself that I have to wait for it to come before I start practising again, lol. But reallY I think what I need are lessons, some sort of structured learning. Anyway it will probably become a holiday project.

Would you recommend learning simple songs straight away Ian, or starting with finger exercises and chords?

Guitars in every room of the house - sounds like Paul´s place!
