After the original date in Aukland sold out in just 17 minutes, Simon and Garfunkel have added an extra date on Sunday 14th June at the Vector Arena:

At the NZ Herald News is an interview with S&G. At another thread people spoke about the possibility of more solo material but this will not happen, Paul says in this interview: "With the exception of one or two songs, we´re singing the repertoire of the five albums we made, that ends in 1970. We´re singing Old songs."

The NZ Herald article you provided the link to mentions nothing about what they will play. That was from the time of the original tour announcement.

The article you mention does look for problems between them. I don´t get how Art Garfunkel always comes across as the nice guy, and Paul the difficult one. I mean really "I have new things to say" says Artie!

Maybe some hope of some Paul Solo stuff (eg still Crazy). I see on Andy Snitzers website that he will be part of the band playing sax and keyboards.

Hi Gerard, there are 2 pages of the interview, yes, it begins a bit touchy, but on the second page there is more about the tour.

Maybe I read between the lines to much but for me Art is as always drawing the attention to himself and Paul gives the smartest answers. Or they play an act to the interviewer.

You are spot on with your analysis Ans.

The problem is Paul is an introvert. I don´t beleive that he doesn´t care, I just think he doesn´t care to make an idiot of himself.

My first impression from the New York concerts I attended in December 2003 was that Paul was not enjoying it (in contrast to seeing him solo the year before). My lasting impression however is that musically at least Paul was in charge. Just witnessing the work of pianist Warren Bernhardt (who I had seen with Artie solo the year before) what a transformation, his talent shone through so much more.

It will be interesting to see how it goes this time around.

Do hope he gets to slip a bit more solo into the show.

Yes, Paul´s ability to get the best out of his band members is great. I liked the way the S&G songs were updated on the 2003/2004 tour. But I often wonder about the reasons Paul has to go back to S&G. His relationship with Art doesn´t look that smooth on stage and interviews. And also artistic it must be not very satisfying to do.
Does early friendship, money and public opinion count more to him sometimes than artistic reasons?

It will indeed be interesting to see how the tour will do this time.

I hope after the tour Paul goes back to his solo work.

Nice to see Andy Snitzer in the band. Some horns would´ve been nice the last time around (Keep The Customer Satisfied).

Hi there Joey. It was good to meet you back at the New York concerts Dec 2003 - and you´re easy to spot on the Old Friends DVD (feelin Groovy). Hard to think it is already 5 years ago.

It all sounds a bit playful to me, but I guess it´s really hard to tell without actual interview footage or at least audio.
In terms of solo material, I think a show like CP81 is something that we can realistically hope for, and which would actually be pretty ideal.
