 | Hi Ian
Seems as if they sell very well there. I have heard about another concert in Japan too, but do not know the city nor the date. |

 | Seems a great pity that they haven´t added another Auckland concert.
Sold out in 17 minutes and ever since Trade Me (NZ equivalent of EBay) has been hot with people selling their tickets at price always 200% more than they paid and in some cases 300-400%. True fans those people selling!

 | Hi Bodo,Gerard,I was looking on the Ticketek site at what tickets are left for the Brisbane shows, and all of the tiers are exhausted except the most expensive Gold and Platinum tiers, where there are still tickets available. I can only think the reason for this has got to be the rather high ticket prices. I mean, those seats are over double that which I paid for Steely Dan tickets in 2007,which were very expensive. I know I´m in the minority, but I think they should have played big open air shows instead of reserved seating at an indoor arenas. Less wear and tear on their voices by turning three shows into one,and the real fans would get the better positions closest to the stage,by arriving early and running fast:-) |

 | Hi Ian, yes you probably are in the minority. I don´t think Artie´s voice is up to it anymore.
As for outdoor concerts in the middle of winter! Maybe only in Brisbane you could get away with it. Had one of the best NZ summer holidays there in June about 11-12 years ago when kids were very young. Was easy to spot the kiwis, they were the ones still swimming in the pool in the middle of winter (and loving it) :-)
Picking up on a point from earlier discussions about concerts being spoiled by the oldies (sadly, probably includes me these days - not easy to standing for 2 hours), buying the expensive seats up front and I guess then nodding off during the show. I have no problem with different pricing, but there really should be a standing only area at the front for people willing or young enough to do it. Good rock n roll concerts are made to stand & move (it not opera or classical) and it is silly for both audience & artist to have the enthusiatic people at the back. Then you get all this "you can´t stand up I paid $370 for my seat and then gatecrashers start pushing in to stand in front". I don´t expect this to happen here with S&G - more chance with PS solo.
I can understand both points of view. Why don´t they at a venue like Acer Arena have the first part of the floor as standing only and raised seating behind that? The sides are elevated so no visability problem there.
Springsten when he came to NZ a few years back (outdoor) had no seating - just expensive standing at the front and cheaper standing after that. It poured with rain the whole concert so standing was the best option anyway.
Back in the 1980´s there was not issue. One entry price and then you chose to stand to get close or just sit in the stands behind if you wanted to sit.
Sadly, in these days of profit maximisation, the oldies with the money take the rocking chairs at the front to get best views with least sweat.

 | Hi Gerard, yep,I agree with everything you said there. Speaking of the outdoor show in winter-I actually hadn´t given that element of the proposition much thought. You´re correct again,as the weather just in the last few days has dropped considerably indeed, and by June I can imagine it being very cold indeed. That´s why the 1983 ´Summer Evening´ tour we both attended in our respective cities was so enjoyable I guess. It was a magical night in Brisbane,on 15th February 1983. Do you think you will go to second night in Auckland Gerard? There must be great demand for these tickets, but unlike you or me,some people just won´t shell out close to $400 for a ticket I guess. Anyway,I´m going to really enjoy this show I think. I haven´t been this excited since Paul´s 91 tour, although with the Neil Young and Steely Dan shows I´ve attended since then I had about the same level of anticipation as now,if I remember correctly. |

 | Well it would certainly be interesting to see how well this third Sydney concert sells. Sat is all booked out but Sun still has seats remaining I think. Plus Tuesday is a week night...
That´s great that a second Auckland concert was announced though, much more justified I think! Hopefully your brother-in-law will get some tickets this time around Gerard. |
