Very excited to go see Paul on Saturday. Anyone else headed to St. Louis (my home)? Hoping that he plays a full set and not just for an hour, as I heard he contracted for. Even if it is just a short set, it will be fun - and for a good cause. Hopefull he plays some newer material as well as the classics. I am such a fan of Capeman/You´re The One/Surprise - such a shame that his recent stuff doesn´t reach the audience it should. However, the audience he still reaches is very into it! We get it, Paul!

Really nice night in St. Louis. The band sounded tight, despite not having played much lately. The show was a benefit and so not so many hard core fans, but still the crowd was very much into it. Had a lot of fun hanging out with Vincent and Tony after the show (including talking about Vincent´s extremely significant contributions to ROTS). The set list was as follows (as best as I can remember):

Gumboots
Boy in the Bubble
Slip Sliding Away
Duncan
Father and Daughter
Mrs. Robinson/Not Fade Away
Only Living Boy in New York
Me and Julio
Graceland
Diamonds
Late In The Evening

Still Crazy
The Boxer
You Can Call Me Al

Sounds Of Silence

Thanks Proof! That must have been fascinating talking to Vincent and Tony, you´ll have to give us a more detailed recount of the conversation!
Seems like Paul is still using his setlist from the 2008 tour - except he´s added Not Fade Away! He did that at another concert recently didn´t he, the reopening of the Beacon was it? I really really hope he will sing it again on tour in June, I Love that song!

I would just like to say that i thought Roy´s review of the concert was magnificent. I am now wondering why Paul changed the lyrics in the last verse in The Boxer. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the review Roy.

I googled news and found a sort but very favourable newspaper review of the concert. Great little warm up for June.

The change to third person at the start of The Boxer also happened in Europe in July 2008. Search You Tube and you will find a video clip of it.
I must say I didn´t like it. For me it seemed to diminish what is a great song - seemed like he was almost embarrassed to sing it about himself (given his obvious wealth & prominence).

Thank you so much for such a wonderfully detailed review Roy!
It sounds like it was an amazing concert. How interesting about the change in lyrics - I only noticed the change in the 1st verse last year, I´ll have to listen again to the bootlegs to see if I missed something. He carries no reminders... does that make him even more defiant? But I liked the fact that he carried the reminders, and it complements the ending so much better, the sense of in spite of everything both then and now, the fighter still remains.
The quality of Paul´s vocals was mentioned quite a few times, and there must have been quite a few threads about this, but it´s so true, how beautiful his voice is (or has become). It´s aged so well and I think he sounds better now that he ever did in the past, there´s a sort of gentle wiseness to it, it just perfectly complements his music.

Somehow I missed this thread and the review from Roy, until this evening. A fantastic review Roy and thank you very much. Good that Paul came across so well with Father and Daughter - appropriate for a children´s charity.

And I Love your alliteration "Pauls pucker peters out"
