OMG!!!!
Thank you so much Ian. Where did you hear this? Do you know where we get tickets from??
I´m sort of unfamiliar with buying concert tickets here, it´s mainly my friends that do it for me. Is there a way to get tickets any earlier like by lining up or something?

Hmm Acer Arena... I know it´s to be expected, but I was hoping for something smaller.

Ok, so you need a visa card to buy the presale tickets. That´s ridiculous, I know it´s sponsorship and things like that, and it´s not a problem for me cos even though I use mastercard my parents have visa - but just another example of institutionalised monopoly. Music is music, it should be equally accessible to all fans whether they have a visa card or not, surely it wouldn´t kill their business to keep things like this separate.

Hi Nikki, sorry for the delay, but I´ve been try to get all applicable information before I posted again. My sister phoned me breathlessly to give me the news. She had received an alert about the tour and at the same time almost, saw a commercial for the 5 O´clock news mentioning the tour. I´m at this moment, recording the news for the story they advertised. The big news of course are the terrible floods at the moment(how mother nature has punished our poor people recently). Nikki,pre-ticket sales start Midday on the 6th. To be eligible, contact Ticketek, and become a member. That´s basically it. It´s free I believe and you will then get early notice of all events and ticket sales. The dates all appear to be in June. Just as I´m writing this,I saw the ad - A very youthful and be-capped Paul, with Artie, broadly smiling at the press conference to announce the tour. I´m so EXCITED!!!

They are playing at the 13,000 seat Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane. I think they have WAY underestimated their popularity. I was expecting Suncorp Stadium quite frankly, and unless they are going to add more dates, they will have missed an opportunity, not to make more money, but to give to give entertainment to as many fans as possible. I have a different opinion than yours Nikki about the size of the venues. I was hoping for a mother of a blowout open air show. There is something special about open air shows-I personally think the sound is often better, and something magical happens when a huge crowd gathers under the stars, bottoms on damp grass, the music floating over the top,and rumbling underneath. AAAHH... How many people does Acer Arena hold Nikki?

Thanks Ian! Oh I share your excitement now :) I was at uni so I missed the news conference - I hope I can find it online somewhere, or that they will replay it on the morning news tomorrow.
Acer Arena is the Old Telstra Stadium for the Olympics, apparently it can hold up to 21000. Yes a guess a huge concert would be exciting, but I was also hoping for very good seats (I hope my expectations are way too high since my first two concerts were both front row centre).
But just check on the presale - from the link I posted it clearly stated that ticketek starts selling on Apr 17th and presale on Mon Apr 6th is through visaentertainment...

also, does anyone know whether acer offers general admission tickets for all concerts (the ones in the very centre where your place depends on how early you line up on the day?) i know they had them for coldplay, do you think they´ll have them for s&g. I would like to be prepared so that when it comes to selecting the tickets on mon I´ll get the right ones!

sorry for the multiple posts, just found something else though:

"Tickets will not come cheap.
Platinum seats nearest the stage will cost $358.50, gold will sell for $285.85, silver for $150 and bronze tickets for $97.50."

Is that just a little bit exorbitant or what?

Hi Nikki, those ticket prices ARE ridiculously over-inflated. They will be the highest price I will have ever paid for tickets. Concert tickets for years, for major artists, are attracting Outrageous prices. In 1983 I saw S&G for the then princely sum of 13 Dollars! At that time, they were the most expensive tickets seen in Australia for an international act. $40 for Graceland in 87,and a whopping $60 for BATRT in 92!! I never invisioned a time when I would pay multiple hundreds of dollars for 2 hours of entertainment.

I´m afraid not homo.creativus... not at this stage anyway, though I´ll keep my fingers crossed. Where do you live?

Ian, so will you be getting the ridiculous $358 tickets? (or trying to at least?) I´m trying to decide - on the one hand it just seems over the tope, plus it´s S&G rather than Paul performing solo. On the other hand, I still can´t help but treat every occasion I see Paul as possibly the last, since I don´t know when he´ll suddenly decide to stop touring, so I want every experience to be as good as possible.

Nikki, I live in Russia.

So both New York and Japan are rather expensive but theoretically possible, and Australia is not(

So shot a lot of photos and videos to tell us about how it will be ))

Pay your attention to the header on the official site "AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND SNARE THE WORLD´S ONLY CONFIRMED CONCERTS FOR SIMON & GARFUNKEL IN 2009"

So maybe they will do one more tour in 2010 - just a little hope)
