Did you see the new comments on the youtube page Lionel? The person posting the video explained that he dropped it by accident, which makes a bit more sense, cos I don´t really see him chucking someone´s CD on the ground (though he did seem to be particularly grumpy, lol). Can anyone hear what the guy said though? I can´t really make it out clearly, something about the CD being a gift - something about ´kid´? Saying that he should show it to his kids? Or that it was made by the kid next to him? Two comments probably really got on his nerves though - the lady at the beginning asking him how his family and the kids were, and the guy at the end telling him that his favourite song was bridge.
Very strange indeed : how can you drop a cd by accident when it´s the only thing you´ve got in your hand ? Unless Paul has problems with his hand... ;-)
If you look closely the disc falls out of the case, you can see how the bodyguard takes the case from Paul and puts the disc back in, but yes, Paul was annoyed by something what this guy said to him when he pointed at the cd, he said Paul Simon and something else you can´t hear and yes he was annoyed before too by someone else but you can´t hear what this person said either.
It´s part of the job to be famous but it must be hard sometimes...;-) when people say stupid things and when they force a present...;-)
??? Sorry my friends, I even do not see that Paul is annoyed.
Maybe my eyes are blind for that, but he is in a normal mood, signs a lot of things, and is in a hurry. So I really do not understand what you all mean, and why this video is called :stupidfamouspeople???
What is wrong?
The CD fell out of the case by accident, and his personal assistant picked it up.
He even said: Thank you very much when he got the CD.
Nothing is wrong here.
BTW:
As you see, I deleted the ´Contact´ link on the bottom of this page. Even for me it was somehow annoying to get about 1 email every two days where someone asks how he can contact Paul Simon because he has written a song for him, or a poem, or Paul has to listen to his CD, or how he can contact him to talk about something...
People always think that they are the ONLY ONE in the world who would be interested in Paul, and that he must have an interest in them too. Well, I have to blame myself too for asking for an autograph 7 years ago - but I will never do that now. With no other artist too. I was young and stupid. Because what is an autograph for? Who invented that? Isn´t that the most stupid thing on earth? This person has such a talent, and has to spend a few thousand hours of his lifetime to sign paper snippets in a row. If he could take that time, and write just one more song... that would be worth a lot.
Paul is a polite man, he signs even more things than he eventually wanted. I still think that if you look closely you can see twice that Paul didn´t like what was said to him. The CD was indeed an accident. The person who posted this video also stated this. They seem to chase celebrities, they have a lot of videos from celebrities on their Youtube channel and also a site called stupidfamouspeople. Strange hobby if you ask me.
The only sentence I can understand is when a woman asks if his family is doing fine, and the children...
I can understand that this question would make Paul feel uncomfortable. (how do they know about my children?!) He wants to keep his private life, his fans should ask things about music and concerts, not about his children. Maybe someone else asked an even more intimitate question.
Hi Bodo,
I can understand why you removed the ´contact´ button. I had no idea there are still so many people who want something from Paul, he would have no time at all to write new songs if he had to pay attention to all these requests ;-)
Hmm, I guess I´m Old and stupid :) but I´m still happy with my autographs, one on my Surprise CD at Glasgow 2006 and the other one with autographs from Paul and several band members on my concert-ticket from Cologne 2008 which I keep at the front of another album. It gives the CD and album a personal touch. I guess in the beginning all artists think, wow, they ask for my autograph, now I am officially famous ;-) but I´m sure it gets boring for them. I was lucky to see the sound-check in Glasgow and had a little chat with Paul and I liked how we could talk with the band members after the concert in Cologne. I´m glad it was not crowded (about 15 people saw the tour bus). I don´t like to obtrude myself the way the people did at the entrance of GMA. But I´m glad people are enthusiastic again, The Capeman and the attack is forgotten and Paul has been rehabilitated.
In reply to the left-hand question. A lot of left handed people write with their right hand because they were taught to do so. The older someone is, the more unusual it would be, if he was allowed to write left-handed. Some people don´t evan know, that they are left handed and are surprised when asked, why they throw a ball with the left hand.
Concerning the autograph thing: I never got that, too. But some people really treasure things like that. If I were a celebrity I would be very anoyed, if some people do that to sell the things immediately afterwards, just to make money.
The whole scene shows, how akward this life can be. For me it looks like someone who is not very happy about it, but knows, that it is part of the game.
Bodo, I´m completely agree with you.
I really don´t understand the problem. He just try to give the Cd to the assistent, it falls, the assistent pick it up.
Yes, it is great when you can have a short talk with him. And the band is really nice, I think they like that even more.
Although, when you can already talk with him alone for some minutes, then I think that is worth more than every autograph - so I would not ask after that for an autograph (what I mean is: the autograph is for the waving people on the street, you got something more special ;) )
