 | not a bad show certainly kept to the line that Paul Simon was the real genius. some interesting snippets of information especially if you´re Irish. and a connection between Edie Brickell and Eleanor McEvoy (from A Woman´s Heart).

 | Just listened to the show. They talked very fast :) sometimes a bit hard to follow for not Irish speaking people ;-) I noticed there were a lot of Simon solo song requests from the listeners :)
All in all it was a good show but I didn´t agree with everything what was said, the robbing of McCarthy and Bach and Paul kind of blocking Edie´s music career, it was Edie´s choice to stop working and start a family (she did some solo work in between and is back now the way she wants to make music, not with all the pressure and touring from the beginning of her career) and we all know the story from Scarborough Fair and American Tune which in my eyes was not robbing.

 | both the speakers talk very fast even for us! Dave fanning has been called "motor mouth" What I was interested in was how into Paul Simon he is because he plays mainly modern rock bands. Yeah some of the views of stealing were very one sided. and i agree with you those 2 songs are not really stealing. Eleanor did try to say that Edie stopped fro her family and has recorded since. but she was also pleased cos she got a record contract from Edies company.
Iwas very pleased with the amount of Paul simon solo requests - hopefully they will do a show just for him. |

 | I had the same thoughts about the "stealing" but I was not sure if it was tongue in cheek or seriously. The woman admitted that evan Bach "borrowed" the theme (and not just once). I am just midly annoyed when this storys turn up frequently.
The story about how annoyed they were about the new version of SOS comes up very often, too. But in the interviews I have heard so far, they always say they knew about it and didn´t mind. |

 | When was that Rosie? I knew John Clarke had interviewed him once but didn´t know Dave had. what a contrast! A slow deliberate speaker like Paul Simon with Dave Fanning!! |

 | I know haha. It was in 2006. Everytime the advert for his show was on RTE it showed Paul. |

 | that must have been at the time of his concert in the Point. Was it the "Last Broadcast?" there are archives to that programme but only for 2008. I have one on VHS that showed an interview with Willie Nelson. that showed some Old music videos of Paul Simon songs eg Me and Julio, YCCMA, |

 | I´m not sure. It was a little while before his concert in The Point, it was a proper interview with him.. it was on very late one night as far as I can remember. |
