Thanks Mimi.
Sounds much different from the Menlo Park days as if Harper ´softened´ - he´s got a beautiful voice, I really liked ´The shine´

Harpers website reminds me a little bit about Pauls official one ...just sometimes ;)

Well...they are all making music now. But somehow I have doubts that I will ever listen to their songs. There´s no living Proof that genius is inheritable ;) ... Sean Lennon, Ziggy Marley...njet

Although Formula one champions tend to have children which will also become Formula one champions.

LOL !!! Good joke Bodo !

It makes me think about The Heavy Circles website. Same thing happened...it has remained unchanged forever.

Hmm, my two cents... Why not listen to their music before judging it. For a young band they make good music IMO. Also Harper developed his own style and the songs sound pretty good. It may not be your taste but that´s a different story. And what´s wrong if they don´t have the same genius as their father, they both Love to make music, work for it and want to make it in the music world in their own way. Adrian is still very young, you don´t know yet if he is a genius...;-)

I listened to Harper and Adrian today while working, and it was quite good !! You should give it a try Bodo.

Actually, these days, when I see Paul arriving with uninspired stuff like Love and Hard Times, Rewrite and this interpretation of If it´s magic, I wonder where to look for real good groovy stuff and good riffs. Part of the answer might be Harper and others...

Well, Paul had his time I presume. It is time for newer generations to take the relay.

I´ve started listening to Harper´s songs and really like them. And I think he sounds just like his dad.

It´s inevitable that Harper & ´The Ivy League´ will be compared to Paul, but that´s missing the point I think... The answer is in what the song does for you... for example...

I am a fan of ´James Taylor´, and I am also a fan of ´Ben Taylor´, James Taylor´s and Carly Simon´s son. Ben has been surrounded by musical Genius all his life, has had two of the best musical tutors in the world. Both for songwriting and guitar technique. I absolutely ´Love´ his work.

The apple never falls far from the tree folks! Think about it :-)

For the record, I think ´The Heavy Circles´ are very entertaining, but I was never much for Melno Park.

What I meant was the voice. It´s funny how the voice somehow gets "passed on" in a family. I also think that Julian Lennon sounds a lot like John.

It´s funny,I am also a Lennon and Taylor fan,and years ago,in a disturbingly cynical fashion,I used to think Julian Lennon imitated his famous father, willfully. I now know I was wrong, and as Lennon inspired many people to become musicians, why shouldn´t his own son be allowed to use genetics for the same reason. Ben Taylor,I have only heard once,in a documentary about famous offspring. To my ears he sounded just like James, and furthermore, his guitar playing was just like his dad´s too! Speaking of James Taylor and Paul Simon-I would Love to see them do an acoustic tour together. I can just imagine Paul singing ´Secret ´o´ Life´,and James doing ´Hearts And Bones´. That´d be so COOL!

Well I do believe that a lot of our gifts, outlook and character are coming from the parents, grandparents and so on.

Paul Simons grandfather was a jewish cantor in Hungary, his father musician. Or see the Bach and Mozart family.

But f.e. Eddie Simon tried and failed, although I think, Paul would have made it without Tom Wilson too.

Enduring success in the Pop-field would mean a lot of more luck than ever, even more than in the 60`s and 70`s, where Pop-music was the main thing for young people.

Rufus Wainwright (a friend of Harper Simon) has reached a certain cult position with very "mighty, big and bright" daring opulent music. But his father Loudon also is only cult, but good, staying mostly around folk.

The Everly Brothers, Carpenters, but altogether not many. Kirk and Michael Douglas...

Finally - I´d been waiting for the Ivy League album with great curiosity. I loved Hallelujah it´s a new year, if there are more pop songs like that on the radio I´d listen to the radio more often. The other songs aren´t as good I think, and Adrian´s voice still needs some maturing I think, but they seem like a band with lots of potential.

Just for the files:

"Eddie Simon and the guild light cage" recorded the single "14th annual fun and pleasure fair"/"Cloudy" in 1968, a two girls and two boys group.
