 | For those of you who are interested and are familiar with bit-torrent, OTP is doing the rounds again in a nice high quality rip from a DVD (?) with AC3 sound. Here´s the link...
http://www.mininova.org/tor/2287717
you´ll also need an ac3 decoder, here´s a free one that works really well.

Happy Viewing!

 | Hi Danny,I wonder what DVD it is ripped from? Is the AC-3 track,a surround or 5.1 mix? |

 | I wondered the same - the sound is very good, but the pic is almost definately from a VHS, althoug a good one.
It was released in dolby stereo on the VHS, so may have an interpolated ´surround´ track, or may be from a TV broadcast which broadcasts in surround, but I would imagine they simply have not chosen the right settings when encoding it from the dvd, with ac3 being a default. |

 | I´m sure this has been discussed before, but what do you all think of the film? I finally watched it thanks to Ian who sent me a copy, and I must admit, I think the plot and acting seems like just a very poor scaffold for the soundtrack. |

 | Hi Nikki, well it certainly isn´t ´A Streetcar Named Desire´ or anything, but I found most scenes reasonably enjoyable and some funny ones as well. Like The Beatles ´A Hard Day´s Night´ it is pretty short on plot development. It´s a subtle little film, almost a slice of life type story. While not much really happens, what DOES happen is very believable-from the marriage separation storyline,to the mundanities of life on the road as working musicians playing bar gigs for unappreciative audiences. It´s hard to see really what could have been added or subtracted to make the movie more interesting for the casual viewer. Maybe a subplot about a Tex-Mex band who accuse Jonah of stealing ´Soft Parachutes´ off them in the mid sixties,or maybe after finishing a set at a club,Jonah finds a roll of Microfilm in his dressing room, that contains the location of secret US missile sites:-). I don´t know?-there IS probably too many musical performances, though Paul´s acting is not too bad for a neophyte. I´ll give 6 out of 10;-). |

 | Have you seen how similar are Edie Brickell and Blair Brown, who play Marion inthe movie? Or it´s just for me?
In 1983 Joan Hackett, who play Lonnie Fox, just few days before her death by cancer, checked herself out of the hospital to host a wedding party for Paul and Carrie |

 | Hi Lara, that´s a nice, but sad story. Very touching. I had no idea she had passed, and so soon, comparatively, after working on OTP. I´m positive that I saw her in an episode of Star Trek once too. |

 | Yes Ian, you´re right, a really sad story. But it´s also a little unknown story of friendship. |

 | It´s just a particular way of encoding the sound in a movie. For this you need to follow the link click on
AC3Filter 1.51a Installer
and run the installer file when it´s downloaded... It´s very small...
You could also google for VLC player, which is free, and will play just about anything :-) |

 | No, this is no VHS.
It is a LD source, and someone who is regulary visiting this site made this DVD. It´s original quality is a 2 DVD set (6 GB)
The AC3 2.0 sound is somehow senseless² IMO, but modern DVD recorders encode the stereo sound in AC3 2.0 to have a compatible format to AC3 5.1. It would have been better if the original seeder had re-encoded the sound to mp3 for example - so the average PC will not have another problem and wonder about another 3 letter acronym... But that will never ende :)
