 | Paul Simon confirms in a short interview the possibility of a Simon and Garfunkel tour trough Australia, Japan and New Zealand. In this interview he also said he is sure that this will be their last tour. They promised to do Australia and Japan in 2004, but could not get around. So this is your last chance to see Simon and Garfunkel down-under.
See this short interview here:

Fans in Australia and Southeast Asia can be happy, because they are short on Paul Simon concert. The last time he played there was in 1991 at his Born At The Right Time tour. And if you are a 1000% percent S&G fan you should take this last chance, plan your holidays in Australia, New Zealand or Japan to see them.

Scroll down to the bottom -
"Those who prefer less grunt in their rock´n´roll may instead enjoy another comeback by Simon & Garfunkel, who are due to land in Adelaide in June after recently announcing they will come together for an international tour." |

 | Yes, Jocke found this one yesterday too (this is the 3th thread about this tour now...so we begin to loose the overview ;-) hehe )
Great for you Nikki to see them finally, maybe they even change their setlist a little bit? At least I hope the update their talks (this is the 50th anniversy of our friendship... no Artie, it´s the 55th anniversy!) :-D |

 | oops... a little overexcitement there i think. sorry bodo. yes it´s so exciting that i may possibly see paul in concert again, but no scripted jokes this time i hope... they work for one concert but not when you repeat them for every night for an entire tour! paul´s perfectly capable of being funny without a script anyway so i don´t know why they bother. |

 | Yeah by the time they reached Ireland I was able to sing along better to their banter than to their songs. But then most people would not have had access to this wonderful (winner of awards) site to follow the tours from the very beginning. Congratulations the Antipods!!

 | Hehe Bodo, I just have to smile about the sentence "he confirms the possibility". So basically he confirmed nothing :-) |

 | hehe, you are right Miriam.
Well, somehow I guess Paul did not want to have this on the news with only half of the information. And I guess he also was a little bit surprised that he was asked this question.
I guess he was still in the process of: "Maybe...let´s see...if you need to do that" - when Artie run to the media and said: "Hurray, we are going on tour".
Somehow it would be nice move of Art Garfunkel if he could wait, until both of them could make a nice press conference together and say: We go on tour.
Well, thats just a guess. But his answer makes me think so.
And why can Australian newspapers say that S&G will come to Adelaide in July, when Paul says: we are thinking about the possibility? I think the media today is just telling us things which are unconfirmed and speculations - for 90% of the time.

 | The newspapers always liked to speculate but these days the media have become lazy, they copy and paste the stories from each other without checking if the information is true. The other day I wrote to several media sites in my area who all wrote the same wrong story about Stevie Wonder getting the Gershwin prize. They mentioned that in the past Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, David Copperfield and Bill Cosby among others got the award. I gave them the link from the Library of Congress for the true story, only one site apologized and re-wrote the story.
I think that AG couldn?t wait to tell the press, it was a sly thing to do, strike the iron while it is hot... now it became impossible for Paul to back out during the negotiations...
But it´s great for the people in Asia, to get the chance to see them one last time like we had in Europe and America.

 | It seems that these moments in PS career are the better for Artie to strike...think about the early 1980. |

 | Mog, that´s kind of an idiotic comment --- this tour has obviously been in the works since 2006 when it was first reported by an Australian newspaper...Although I doubted it at the time, they must have gotten some inside information. |

 | LOL !!!
Not that idiotic I think. Do you think that if Paul had another Graceland album on the charts that he would be interested in a S&G tour in Asia ? Probably not ! |

 | You sort of have a point but one should think Paul is more interested in creative processes than nostalgia, whether he´s out to produce a new hit record or not. |

 | Graceland was nearly 25 years ago, he will never have another record like that....and he did do shows with Artie just six years after Graceland and one and two years after Rhythem of the Saints...Also, in the early 80´s, paul was comming of a top five hit in Late In The Evening....
It´s not like Artie´s been laying in the weeds waiting for Paul´s carreer to flounder inorder to reappear to tour with him. Paul invited him to sing at the Beacon theater as he invited him to sing at the Central Park show in 1981 |

 | "Graceland was nearly 25 years ago, he will never have another record like that..."
Humm...I would say that the strong tendancy points toward this, but who can predict the future ? Nobody was expecting Simon to release his best album of his career in 1986. In these circonstances, I would not say *never* for this man.
The imagery I use concerning Garfunkel was not accurate, but my sole point was just to mention that Simon might be more prone to nostalgia tours when his career might be in a low in terms of mass acceptance.
The 1991 Concert In The Park was probably a high point in terms of Paul Simon. He was showing to his Old partner that he was able to draw 750 000 people on the lawn without the said old partner.
But time has swept back again, and to attract big audiences and adulation, Simon has to make once again the S&G trick with the old partner. The duo that has always drawn admiration, success, and piles of gold to the friends from Queens since 1965. |
