There was a brief, unhappy marriage to Paul Simon, she reminds us, and an affair with, among many others, Senator Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut, who said of their relationship, `It was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ` a remark that Ms. Fisher thinks probably doomed his bid for the presidency.

Hey, I did not know about this 3 people relationship...and that it was in Another Galaxy too makes it even more interesting. Do we finally know who is the bride behind this song ? :-D

When I heard Another Galaxy for the first time I had just seen the "sequel" to the "Graduate" where it is stated that the girl ran away on the morning of her wedding day but then came back. It seemed that the song related to this story or is that too simplistic for Paul Simon?

Hi Bodo.

I like the idea that Carrie Fisher is implicated in the title of this song. Then there´s also the yellow roses in the opening verse, which makes you think: yellow roses = Texas = his current wife. Maybe it´s about all of his marriages.

I read the book. Nothing major to report.

What surprised me is that she reports that her relationship with Simon, on and off, approx 12 years. I had always thought that her and him were together for three to four years, and that it was finished after the divorce. Their last trip together were on the Amazon, while Simon was working on ROTS.

The funniest moment is that after one of their numerous quarrels, she was taking a plane to go to LA and she told Simon, who had taken her to the airport, that he would feel sorry if the plane crashes. He replied: "maybe not".

She thinks that "She Moves On","Allergies", "Graceland" and "Hearts And Bones" are partly or totally inspired by her.

I have no idea about the song Another Galaxy would have been inspired by her.

But it was one of my best-ever PS moment when I recognized that Another Galaxy and the following track, Once Upon a Time show two sides of human life. While AG speaks about "leaving home", and all the secure things in life, OUT speaks about getting home again and finding some of the former emotions again.

As nothing is different, but everything´s changed.

I do not think that Another Galaxy is inspired by C Fisher. After having read the book, I can tell you that if she had seen anything related to her in AG, she would have probably mention it with pride. Plus, I have never heard that she ran away from the marriage with Simon.

On AG, Simon mentionned at one point that its first acoustic guitar chords came after Eno asked him to play whatever in response to the electronic beat. Simon found that these improvised chords sounded so much like the 1960 that he wrote a story that reflected this decade: therefore, the runaway bride.

About AG - I meant it more like a joke, because of the words the senator used.

Carrie Fisher thinks that She Moves On, Graceland and H&B are inspired by her?
I always thought these songs have more background from his first marriage - but maybe that is just the story, and the feelings are from his marriage with CF

Wasn´t the song Crazy Love 2 about their divorce? Hearts And Bones is for sure, but Graceland?? Carrie has said her memory has been affected by her shock treatment, so maybe she´s incorrect on her understanding of her influence.

About Graceland, Fisher just mentions that the line "as if I had not noticed the way she brushed her hair from her forehead" is about her.

Well Paul has often said that ´Graceland´ is the companion piece to ´Hearts And Bones´. Lyrics like ´She comes back to tell me she´s gone,as if I didn´t know that,as if I didn´t know my own bed´ certainly now seen to be about Carrie. ´She Moves On´ is the third song in the story too, apparently.
