 | Just had a look at the UK-Singles-Charts. It`s full of christmas. Bing Crosbys White Christmas meets Elton John, Bones M., Paul Mccartney and so on.
The only christmas song of Simon (and Garfunkel) was "Silent Night" mixed with horrible news from the radio in 1967. Simons biggest artistic failure in my eyes. What a trivial idea!
Simon and Garfunkel`s "Collection" is in the album charts again too, as nice christmas present.
The same procedure as every year... |

 | I don´t think it´s such a bad idea, it shows us how fake it is to celebrate Christmas as there is a war going on in other parts of the world... only at Christmas time there are all these songs about peace on earth, well... there will never be peace on earth...
BTW, I put a video on excessive fans from Paul from the SNL Christmas Special 1987, the sketch on a desert island. You need the flv player to play it on your computer. |

 | I think ,with Ans, that it was,in 1967 a very original idea of making a "protest song" with a sort of kindness... |

 | I don´t think 7/Silent Night was intended to be a Christmas song, I think it was meant to make people stop and think about what was going on in the world at that time. I think it´s beautiful and very powerfull, as im sure it was then.
Btw, you can also see the Paul christmas skit on myspacetv.com |

 | Silent Night was very daring for its era, and controversial to the extent that the news announcers role was turned down several times, before one guy was brave enough to take it on.
I still think its as potent today as ever was, maybe more so. |
