 | Hi.
A thirty minute radio documentary about Paul Simon`s songwriting is due to be aired on Thursday January 3rd on Radio Scotland. The programme is fourth & last in a series - `Waxing Lyrical` - which has already featured artists such as Joni Mitchell.
I haven`t listened to any of the previous programmes but I`m sure the one on Paul Simon will be worth listening to.
I will try to update this posting closer to the time with more details of time of broadcast and a link to the site.
Merry Christmas !
Ell.

 | Thanks Ell - keep us posted! Speaking of radio interviews, I was completely caught by Surprise the other night when switching between stations in the car, there was an interview with Paul on ABC radio about Graceland! Nothing particularly interesting, except Paul explainig his break from touring before Graceland with Harper´s birth. But it was a very pleasant surprise, considering Paul hardly gets any airtime here, and I don´t even know when the he last gave an australian interview |

For those of you interested, here is the link to the Radio Scotland feature on Paul Simon.
There will probably be a `Listen Again` facility for the seven days following Thursday January 3rd.

Have you ever wondered how Paul Simon writes hit after hit? The art of writing great lyrics is revealed by musician Davie Scott in the last programme of this 4 part series.
Happy New Year!

 | I just had a listen to the show, there were some really good comments, but too much about S&G and nothing about his latest album Surprise what is a big loss imo. But it was good to hear the speakers have a big admiration for Paul as a songwriter, the woman understood Paul´s songwriting and composing the best, as the others talked more about his lyrics she noticed Paul´s good sounds, his guitarplaying and how he is very playfull with the lyrics as well.
Thanks for sharing this with us Ell. |

 | Yeah, it was interesting to hear the comments on the word sounds - I think the woman is a prose poet so her explanation of the writing process was interesting.
It thought it was always going to be a difficult thing to discuss - I don`t think Paul Simon knows how to explain his songwriting sometimes!

 | Very interesting programme Ell thanks. They started to discuss why Paul is as good (if not better ) than dylan and Cohen, but is not as popular - however they didn´t get into it. I´d Love to hear this paradox argued out. |

 | Interesting how everyone has different lyrics that touch them. I enjoyed the broadcast very much. |
