Yea cuse he didn´t just tour Europe last summer --- oh, wait. You can´t seriously tell me you would rather hear How Can You Live In The Northeast and Pigs, Sheep, and Wolves than Paul and Artie on America or Sounds Of Silence?

And it´s not wierd at all. It makes perfect sense. First of all, they did not hit Australia on the Old Friends Tour, and secondly they are probably promoting the Live 1969 album.

I sincerely hope he does, Jocke. Some of the things he said during interviews to help promote Surprise hinted that he still has things to say.

More S&G tours wouldn`t be a bad thing either, as long as it was more like their first reunion, with a sprinkling of their solo work, especially Paul`s.

I`d like to quote these great words again, I think they are from Kuno, Switzerland:

"Paul is more art without Art."

We should convince Bob Dylan or at least James Taylor to write a song with this title.

Maybe the title could be more harmless: Paul and art.

And then the facts in the verses.

What´s with all the anti-Artie sentiments? None of us would be here now even discussing this if it wasn´t for Art Garfunkel. Paul Simon is a genius, but Artie was integral to launching their careers, and to Paul realising his potential. The music they produced together was, and still is, utterly beautiful. Their harmonies send shivers down my spine to this day.

I saw Paul Simon at the NEC and he was great. But I saw S&G in Manchester, and it changed my life.

Well Scott, this is a Paul Simon solo site but ofcourse S&G fans are welcome here too. But a group of fans here, including me think Paul would have made it without Art and we like Paul´s solo music much more as his S&G´s music. We had this discussion here over and over again. I think they had some great years together but that was in the past. Paul developed his music more and more and can´t go back to the early S&G music. I think they should both stick to their own music now, besides that their music taste is so different. Art only likes to sing soft songs, Paul has so much more to offer. We are all entitle to have our own opinion about this.

Paul´s solo music changed my life. His beautiful music, his meaningful lyrics and wide range of subjects together with his emotive voice are just great. And his different styles of music opened my ear and mind to other music and musicians.

Hear Hear Ans,
and Jon Yes I would much rather hear HCYLINE and PSW and wartime prayers and Outrageous and more new songs cos time is marching on and we can´t be liveing in the past.
On saying that I´d be delighted for the Australians if Paul decides to go there - solo or with the (no longer) fuzzy haired chap.

Ah,so thats why "Cuba Si,Nixon No",is missing again from the new Live 69 album. Paul and Artie might start arguing again. That really would be bad publicity - or would it?

Oh dear, I wish I could detect some irony in Jon´s post. Don´t get me wrong, I Love S&G and the concerts I attended in 2004 were awesome but I really think we´ve had enough now. Sure the Aussies would love to see them but then what´d be next? They also haven´t been in Asia, Africa and the North Pole. Seriously, if that S&G tour is gonna happen Paul is about to lose his credibility :-( He´s not the youngest anymore and wastes his time on nostalgic tours instead of making a new album? And yes, I´d prefer to hear his new songs :-D

Seriously, I don´t think that Australia alone is ´important´ enough for S&G to do another tour. (rehearsing for 3-5 concerts... come on)

And, this newspaper article only said that promoters from Australia try to get them. That - for me - means nothing (I even would go that far and say that Paul does not know anyhting about that...). They could also ask for Elvis or John Lennon, they only want a big act without any risk.

Promoting the new live CD? For what, they are not a newcomer band in their 20´s. Paul could even stop promoting his own albums with a tour - and it will not change any sales numbers.

I agree. If they would at least add Japan or other parts of Asia.

But for what? Garfunkel`s main contribution was his remarkable voice, which is gone mainly.

And I am sure, that a big portion of the remaining rest of his "popularity" comes from his unusual name.

There are Simon`s as surnames and first names all over the world, but very few Garfunkel`s. As "Tom Graph" or "Art Miller" he would be even more forgotten.

There was a TV-series "Simon and Simon". He then could be lucky...

Their surnames were a thorny issue in the 60s. By the time they got to record Wednesday Morning,3 a.m. they had already used a string of pseudonyms. When the names came before the Title Committee at CBS records many execs thought they were a comedy team. Others a Law firm, or a partnership in the clothing industry. Paul feared anti semitism would stop them getting air play, and pressed that they be called Landis and Garfield. If it was not for the insistence of Tom Wilson who told them to be bolder, this website may have been dedicated to someone in a different name.Though still uneasy the pair relented and agreed to record professionally under their real surnames. Confusingly when they toured in the UK many still felt Simon and Garfunkel were their first names.

Paul would later go on to say "our names are honest...the fans will catch us if we lie.." and used it as a mark of their integrity.
