OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE (21.06.2007):

Columbia/Legacy has unearthed an album´s worth of previously unreleased recordings from Simon & Garfunkel´s November 1969 U.S. tour, which turned out to be the duo´s last for more than a decade.

"Live 1969" is due Aug. 18. 2007 Shows on the tour were taped with the intention of releasing a live album to follow up the January 1970 release of "Bridge Over Troubled Water," but that project never materialized until now.

The album includes early live versions of songs from "Bridge," including "Why Don´t You Write Me," "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright" and the title track. Also featured are classic such as "Homeward Bound," "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" and "The Boxer," plus a cover of the Gene Autry-popularized "That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine."

Simon & Garfunkel have previously been captured live on the albums "The Concert in Central Park" (1982), "Live From New York City, 1967" (2002) and "Old Friends: Live on Stage" (2004).

Here is the track list for "Live 1969":

"Mrs. Robinson" (11/8/69, Carbondale, Ill.)
"The Boxer" (11/15/69, Long Beach, Calif.)
"Why Don´t You Write Me" (11/15/69, Long Beach, Calif.)

"That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine" (11/15/69, Long Beach, Calif.)
"Bridge Over Troubled Water" (11/28/69, New York)
"The Sound of Silence" (11/8/69, Carbondale, Ill.)
"I Am A Rock" (11/8/69, Carbondale, Ill.)
"Old Friends/Bookends Theme" (11/1/69, Toledo, Ohio)
"Leaves That Are Green" (11/31/69, Detroit)

Interesting that they did not include anything from the Back To College boot.

Very exciting. I wonder if perhaps they would do a few shows to promote it? That would be icing on the cake.

That sounds brilliant and why do you have such a problem with Paul & Art doing stuff together. It´s not like it´s permanent.

Personally I think it would be nice...I´d Love to have the chance to see them perform together.

Paul still has the rest of the Surprise tour to do. and the solo concerts are so much better than the S&G which become more like a kareoke. excuse spelling.

The "Back to College" boot is from November 11th, so as these dates is both before and after that date, I think this will definitely be from the part of the BOTW tour that was with a band. Very exciting, as I agree that another acoustic album would be less interesting.

As for more S&G concerts I agree with with Bodo and Scaaty. It´s not that I wouldn´t rather have more S&G concerts than no concerts at all - I just prefer Paul doing more solo touring...

BTW, I hope you are well - Old and new "regulars" alike. I have not been very active here lately, which is mostly due to the fact that I have finished my education and started on a new job (I´m all grown up now - well I turned 30, so I guess it´s about time ;-) ). Anyway, have a nice summer everyone!

I would Love to see Paul and Artie together live sometime, as I´ve never had the chance - but I would rather see Paul doing some more solo touring All Around The World (and esp. love it if he came to Denmark). btw, great news with the new CD!!!

Can anyone please telle me the f*ing reason for not releasing the Back To Collegue bootleg ?
This show is absolutely perfect. A whole show, not just a stupid collection of live performances as I could burn by myself with clips from the internet !

The songs on this bloody compilation are almost the same as on the collegue-bootleg anyway.

The Collegue-show would have been the perfect counterpart to the already released show from 1967 (from a setlist perspective).

I Love the collegue bootleg and certainly can live with it as it is. But I hoped they would be able to increase the soundquality of the bootleg even more, until 100% perfection, and release it.

It would have fit the S&G catalogue perfectly !!

Believe it or not, I seriously consider to save the money and maybe download the album from the internet once it is released.

And that´s certainly not my usual behaviour when it comes to Paul Simon !

My guess is that the recorded the entire 69 tour and these are the best sounding tracks from what they got. Mabye they didn´t want a band, I don´t know. From what I´ve heard, the Carbondale show was acoustic only. I´m excited nontheless.

Totally agree Kuno. When first advertised,I thought we were in line for an official release of the Miami,Back to College concert, with full backing band. But no, its selected dates from the whole 69 tour( mainly acoustic),certainly Carbondale is, and missing Cuba Si, Nixon No. However will definitely buy this , rather than the Essential PS. Even out and out Paul Simon fans still Love vintage period S+G.
