I saw yesterday on alt.music.paul-simon that Paul´s mother had passed away. I have not seen if there were other reliable sources to confirm.

If this is indeed true, my condoleances to the family.

Seems to be reliable - together with the message I posted some weeks ago it makes sense... but it is sad, as that time the answer was she is doin fine.

:-(

Very sorry to hear this news, hopefully it was a peaceful passing. this will affect Paul Simon greatly as he seemed to be very close to her.

This is sad news, my condolances to Paul and his family. Paul´s mother had a good and long life, that is some comfort but it´s hard that now both his parents are gone.

From my vault, I have posted a picture of Paul and his mother on my blog:

If I remember correctly, this was taken at the Kennedy Centre Awards in 2002.

That really is terrible news... just when we thought that everything was fine too. Well at least it probably wasn´t completely unexpected for her family.

A sad time for Paul and his family. She was obviously dearly loved as that photo shows.

If this is true, my condolences to Paul and his family...but

I checked out the alt group and found this:

The New York Times OBITUARIES Monday June 18, 2007

"SIMON--Belle, 97, passed away, June 16, 2007, Loving and beloved wife of
the late Louis Simon. Adored mother of two sons, Paul and Edward and five
grandchildren, Harper, Adrian, Emma, Lulu and Gabriel. She will be greatly
missed by her daughters-in-law Edie and Leslie. She was a first grade
teacher at Public School 164 in Queens and retired in 1975. Donations may
be made in her name to the Children´s Health Fund, 215 West 125th Street,
Suite 301, New York, NY 10027"

I popped by NY Times and did a search in their obits and found nothing and yet Paul´s dad is in the archives. So why isn´t Belle showing up when she has, apprently, died in the past 7 days?

I´m sorry, I realise people probably think I´m being stupidly sceptical. But I did a 14 day search in their obit archives and there was nothing and to me that seems strange.

On top of that, Paul seems to be going about his normal life. Nothing cancled, nothing mentioned...Seems odd to me some how that his 97 year Old mother doesn´t pop up in a google search as passing away on the 16th.....

It´s just me...I blame my father for being this cynical..
