Welcome to the "Newest Member" in the Database... Ira Garr from New York.

Seems as though someone was unhappy with the posting of a characture of AG "hitching a ride" on PS´s talent. Remember, guys, everyone deserves respect. Your opinions are simply opinions, not fact. If you can´t do better (and even if you can), respect others for their contributions to the world. If you wouldn´t say something to someone´s face, don´t say it behind his/her back. Computer screens, computer names, anonymity, and distance aren´t excuses for plain rudeness. "Funny" doesn´t necessarily hurt someone. "Rudeness" does. You can be funny without being rude. Or, if you can´t, you can be quiet. You don´t have to put someone down just to raise another up.

... Stepping off my soapbox now.
"Welcome, Ira."

Okay, since I posted this just a few hours ago, I now see about 3 "news" items (more like reviews) added to the "News" items in addition to all the photos. Respect works both ways. Respecting this site as one for fans of Paul Simon, the posts of the last several hours by this new "fan" seems excessive and of questionable judgment. "Mr. Garr," I´d direct you to the Art Garfunkel site, but I´m taking a wild guess that you already know precisely where to find it.

Bonnie,
Thank you for your comments on respecting and disrespecting others. I, for one, totally agree with you that it makes no sense to attack AG and putting him down does not somehow elevate PS.

Thank you also for posting the Gershwin Award item-- this is the first I heard of it. Too bad this information is not receiving more press. Frankly, I am surprised that they did not award this to Dylan, as he seems to be in more favor with the critics at this moment. (Of course, I think they got it right by giving it to PS, instead!)

They definitely got it right.PS has always been conscious of his place in the great tradition of American song. Telling "Newsweek" magazine in 1975 that "its no fluke me, Berlin, Gershwin, and Kern, are all Jewish guys from New York who look alike".
