Since Paul Simon did´t get into the 49th grammy awards, will he get nominated for Surprise best album in the 50th grammy awards?

Since Arnold Schwarzenegger did not get an Oscar for his first Terminator movie from 1984, will he get one next year?

Time is over.

Just a hint of sarcasm there, Bodo?

Explanation: Only new albums released in a defined timeframe can be nominated. AFAIK the ´Grammy year´ always starts on October 1.

This rule make sense, doesn´t it? Or Elvis and the Beatles would win all Grammys today
:-)

Saw a book today 1001 albums to hear etc. Bookends and PSRT both appeared in the list - no mention of any PS solo albums not even Graceland. Makes you wonder about lists doesn´t it.

One mans List is another mans.........

I have that book, Scaaty: "1001 albums to hear before you die", and I enjoy it very much as bedside reading :-)
In general I like the authors choices, and that being said, I can say that fortunately you are wrong about PS not being mentioned.

S&G titles in the book: PSRT, Bookends, BOTW.

PS: PS, H&B, Graceland.

I think TGRS belongs to the list as well (and a lot would probably say SCAATY too), but all in all, I think it´s ok.

As I said, I think the list is (surprisingly) acceptable even for a guy like me with a (very) Old-fashioned taste in music. So I can certainly reccomend buying the book. It is great for reading something when you have just a few minutes for doing so.
And it can be bought cheap too (I have the slightly more expensive hard back version, which is nice, since it´s a huge thing!):

Well that sounds more like it Soren, I´ll check the book again , cos I didn´t see BOTW either - I looked up Simon in the index and it just gave page nos for PRST, Bookends and a page where PS was mentioned.

Thanks for the interesting link. Have we had a debate on this site about the relative quality of vinyl versus digital quality?

I have all S&G and PS albums up to Graceland on vinyl, mostly early pressings, and in my opinion they sound better than the digital versions.

Of course, they are more fragile and now show signs of wear and tear. But on a high end sound system, they have a depth that digital seems to lack. Anyone else have the same experience?

I have the experience that Graceland on LP sounds better than on CD

But on the other hand, ROTS sounds better on CD than on LP

Sounds strange, scaaty. Did you have the actual book in hands? There is a general index and an artis index at the back. In the artist index you should find the titles I mentioned. Unless there is a different (earlier) print than mine?

Bodo, intersting. I don´t have ROTS on vinyl. I wonder if the reason for that is that all the albums were originally on vinyl up to Graceland. After that, they came out primarily on CD. Graceland was the first CD I bought, but I already had the vinyl. By the time of ROTS, CDs had replaced vinyl for the most part. Just a thought.

yes soren i did have the book, I even checked the link you gave and the covers where the same. I think it must have been the artist index, but I looked under S for simon. I´ll check again, because it looks as if I will get it going by what you are saying.
Re Vinyl, I think there is a richer warmer sound of vinyl. The PS songbook i have seems to be in mint condition - it´ll be interesting to hear it and compare it to the CD version esp going on what richard is saying.
