I don`t want to rake over Old ground here, but just wanted to add my support that Paul didn`t do the Old Friends tour just for the money.

I mean, I read a couple of years ago that the S&G back catalogue made in the region of $20 million. This man does not have to do anything for the money. He could have happily retired many years ago. I hope he doesn`t, he`s still got a lot to give and while he keeps pushing the envelope the way he does he`ll be Keep The Customer Satisfied for years to come.

This is in addition to all of the things that Bodo mentions (Dylan, You`re the One, etc).

As for a new S&G album, I would welcome that (probably because it would result in a tour) but its hard to see how it would work now. Garfunkel doesn`t have the scope required by Paul`s music, and as the song goes `I write the songs so it would really be on Paul`s terms.

They would probably end up in a big fight when they worked together again. If you listen to Paul´s new groundbreaking album how can AG expect to go back where they left of in 1970 which he said in the interview.

AG choose again for the easy way with his new album. Instead of writing more music himself after the beginning of his small contribution on his solo album before this one he covered Old songs from the fifthies. He simply doesn´t have the skills like Paul, that´s okay but that´s why he has to accept the S&G days are over.

As for a tour my choice would be rather to see Paul never live again then with AG again.
The OF tour was a good farewell tour.

One thing´s surprising me : everybody tries and prove that PS didn´t do the Old Friends Tour just for money, since he´s still very rich - and I agree with that idea by the way.

But why does Nobody suggest that Artie would Love to make a new S&G album just for fun too - he´s still very rich too...
He´s rich and can still fill some places for his -solo- shows...

I just don´t understand that difference of treatment between Paul and Art...

I never said that, none of them is really interested in money IMO.

Simon & Garfunkel would never sound as good as in 1970 - thats a fact. An album would just Proof that.
And they released a track in 2003, have you already forgotten that one? An uninteresting piece of music today. Thats how they would sound today.

Art just loves to stand in the center of attention, thats why he wants S&G back - to play in big arenas with bad sound quality and thousands of people which cry ´Artiiie´...and not only 500-1000 people.

The last time Paul toured with Art was for Paul just to repair their friendship - he likes Art very much and he knows how much Art wants to reform S&G. But the good thing is, he is such a high profile artist that he knows a S&G reunion would just ruin the Legend ´Simon and Garfunkel´ after a certain time. S&G is a part of history, like the Beatles. It is not the same today anymore, because they changed, and much more - the times changed.

Paul is always 1 step in the future with his music - and Art 3 or 4 steps behind everything.

Don´t live in the past, thats all I can tell you for your life. Remeber the past, but don´t live in it and say ´Everything was better then´

How many of us, who are 20, 30 0r more years into our careers would want to go back to where we were in the early years? It would mean that we haven´t advanced any further or even have regressed.. How sad is that? reunion tours for nostalgia by all means, but lets leave it at that.
As for changing the song Still crazy, can´t improve on perfection!!

To be fair the track they released in 2003 was not exactily well done -- it was recorded in 1980 and then overdubbed by Art.

I think that if they did a new studio album they would sound just as good as they did in 1970. Listen to Old Friends version of Cecilia -- they sound exactily the same there. They just need to know their limitations.

Honestly. Listen to "Surprise" and then listen to Arts new one and then tell me, how they could agree on a musical style they would both feel comfortable with.

I don´t want to discuss about good or bad. I just don´t think it can be done, without one of the both would have to compromise way too much. And I don´t think it´s wise of Art to play with the media that way. Maybe we will... It is a possibility... Who knows...

Thats not pointless, it is funny, more than funny.

Even if you do not know anything about music you hear that Art and Pauls voice has changed dramatically in the past 30 years.
And Paul is writting completely different songs today - believe me, he is not interested in writting simple 3 chord songs like Cecilia or The Boxer. So how would Arts voice sound on a track like ´Sure don´t feel like Love´ ??
