Along the lines of Jocke´s previous thread:

Has anyone on this sight ever seen a performance of The Capeman?

If so, how was it?

I also found this link
http://members.aol.com/Pretybelle/lyrics.html

It is really good info.

yes, travelled over from UK back in ´98 at last minute, and saw one of last performances. Quite incredible experience to see the show in it´s original format. Yes, it was flawed, particularly the second half, which tended to lose it´s way, but to hear those songs, some of which for the first time, and to see Paul´s vision right there on stage, it remains the most treasured of all my Paul experiences, and I have seen him in concert 22 times!!
Also saw the Capeman here in Manchester back in 2000, when the Youth Theatre staged it - really well performed, considering they had nothing to go on; no video; no cast recording (at the time)

Thanks for telling us about seeing it on Broadway. I had not heard that it was performed anywhere else but always wondered if it would be. I have the cast album, and I adore it. It is too bad they didn´t have the time to tinker with the Broadway play to improve the weaknesses. I think the music and the bones of it were very good.

Hi Wayne, we also saw the recording in Manchester, at the Contact Theatre. It was excellent, wasn´t it?

Do you remember, there´d been rumours that Paul himself may show up? It was really nice to hear, and see, all the songs performed, and I followed the story with my original Capeman playbill, which Pauline Williams had sent me as a Christmas gift :-)

I travelled from Sweden to see "The Capeman"! Obviously it wasn´t as bad as the reviewers said it was, actually it was quite good. What I think maid it an (economic) failure was the choice of subject.
