 | I`m sorry, but to my ears it sounded as though Paul thought he`d best say something nice.
Thinking about it while Art`s voice was beautiful it seems to crack and waiver these days, where as Paul`s just gets better and better.
As far as their standing goes now, Paul seems highly revered in all quarters, but Art seems a bit of a joke. I forget the cartoon, The Simpsons possibly, but when they went to some glitzy town we saw the signs and posters as they made their journey through the streets. One of them said (something like) `In Concert Garfunkel, Stills and Nashâ?.

 | Garfunkel´s voice has a place in music and he did contribute something to S&G (albeit far less than half). So I agree with the sentiment that we shouldn´t put him down. It doesn´t elevate PS to put AG down.
However, I also agree that AG has become a bit of a joke. He was named on a recent list of famous "sidekicks" -- you know, people like Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson, or Ed Norton to Ralph Kramdon, Ethel to Lucy (I am trying to think of examples that our non--US members might know.) Sancho Panza to Don Quixote.
Anyway, it was not a good thing for AG to be on that list. Also, there is a comedy TV show on in the US called "Scrubs" about a hospital where the Doctor in charge continually insults one character in particular. Anyway, in one episode, he said something like, "Tell that to Garfunkel here." And that was meant as an insult.
So AG is (perhaps unfairly) a bit of a symbol of a someone who rode to fame on the talent of another. |

Reading this it reminded me of an article I read recently.

 | Ah!! What a good article. The person who´s opinion this is, Kris Drever, is a very talented guitarist and writer himself. I saw him play with british folk singer Kate Rusby last year and he´s brilliant. Check him out!!!
Sorry to really go off the boil there but as Dave said earlier, that´s the joy of these forums!!! |

 | Finally took the time to listen to some songs of him, I like it, good guitar player and he has a good voice. Always liked the Irish singers/songwriters, saw a few shows here in the Netherlands from different singers/songwriters who joined in groups and played their own songs and one or two together, it´s several years ago, can´t remember much names, one of them was Frances Black. |

 | Hey Ans!! Glad you took the time to have a listen-he is really good, I like his music a lot : )
The "session" vibe-where musicians all get together and jam is great-I myself have been to a few back home in Scotland : )
If you like Irish singer/songwriters, you may like my band(a copule of other regualr forum visitors have heard our stuff)-you can hear us at http://www.myspace.com/garystewartband. I hope that´s OK and people don´t think I´m abusing the forum by putting my band´s contact up-but my music IS influenced mostly by Paul Simon : )
Bye!! |

 | Frances black has a sister Mary who has released alot of albums, she is more popular here than Frances (who is my personalfavourite). A great irish singer/songwriter is Christy Moore, his bother Luka bloom is also very good. The late Luke Kelly (from the Dubliners) did an interesting cover of "the sun is shining" - sung by S&G on WM3AM. Cant check name or details - my faithful iPod of 4 years has just died - 3864 songs including all my Paul Simon albums downloads from this site, interviews, bootlegs all gone!!, the awfullness of it all still is only beginning to dawn on me. hadn´t meant to mention it but...... :(( |
