lol well just the way it´s helped everyone else at some point or other get through life I would imagine! For me, I know that it certainly was a major factor in keeping me sane during my hsc (i think you call it ´senior´) year. I often fell asleep with Paul´s music playing, just a nice warm familiarity to soothe me, calm me down at the end of a long day.

The Teacher influence I can identify with too robinson. Mmm thank god for older teachers who have an appreciation for good music.

When Paul got me into music with You Can Call Me Al at the age of 15 I recall many long conversations with my English teacher, Mr Bickerton, who, I recall, had a particular Love for Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes.

At this time in my life Paul was just great music and interesting, intelligent lyrics, which often left me wondering what he meant. This lack of understanding didn`t stop me gathering together his entire back catalogue though, solo and duo works. As I`ve gotten older his meaning has become much clearer to me, now that I`m at the age he wrote a lot of that material. Its nice to know that there are many teenagers out there who will be in the same position, that when, like me, they are sitting listening to him, he`ll sing something and you think to yourself `that`s what he means, because at 25, 30, 35 or whatever it has more relevance to you because of the experiences you have had.

To me this proves he is more than just a spokesman for his generation but he remains so relevant that he is one for us all.

I have been loving and listening to his music for 40+ years, and I still find new meaning in his lyrics. That is a lot of time to look beneath the layers of his lyrics, and arrive at new conclusions as time goes by. I truly believe the man is a genius and the best of his generation. (I couldn´t be prejudiced could I?
