As one who was alive in Paul´s early years, I have to say it has been a great ride. It always interests me how many young fans he has, and I am interested in how they came to be acquainted with his music.

Also for Aussie fans--

It´s not Paul, but it got me thinking. Crosby,Stills, and Nash will be touring down under in March and April.

You guys are lucky.

I am 13 and I first heard "You Can Call Me Al" when my mom played the cassette. I automaticly loved his voice and the randomness of the words. I began to pursue his music a little more and soon became hooked.

Great to see another Aussie appear on board.

Yeah, Crosby, Stills & Nash are coming down under. Hopefully will not sell out in 10 mins and give people like me a chance to buy tickets. I saw Carole King recently and that was fantastic!

Ditto. Welcome Issac! Yeah I´m only 18 and I wish I had been born earlier too, when there would have been more hype about Paul, when he gave more international concerts, when he visited Australia - etc. Well, fingers crossed for an aussie concert some time in the distant future. Chances are slim I know but it doesn´t hurt to hope :-)

Welcome youngsters, i´m trying to get my 11 year Old niece into Paul, but she thinks only U2 at the moment.
As for wishing you were born when there was more hype about paul in the media, he, either solo or as S&G, was always low key with the media. However he did hit the headlines in a big (negative) way with Graceland. Many of my contempories who have similar music taste to me still don´t like him because of this time. They feel that Diamonds is a real insult to the miners in SA.
Yet it is a SA group (LadysmithBM) that make this song.

Welcome everybody new!! Scaaty, this idea of Diamonds being offensive to the miners is Very Strange to me.Is offensive when someome say you work for a big company and gets almost no money there? Or it´s just reality?
PS: I don´t know if I´m your contemporary, but for sure I´m NOT Teen anymore...Unfortunatelly Paul was not very popular here in my young years, S&G biggest hits are from the the year I was born, and he only returned to the midia with The Central Park Show, where I knew him. Love at the first heard...

I have only heard this particular objection in the last couple of years, but from different sources. When discussing music with people who as I have said have similar age and taste to me - when I mention Paul Simon - the response is - "tought he gave up music after making millions out of Gracelands" and then it was mentioned about making a mockery of the miners hardship with "Diamonds"

These people can´t hear between the lines. Daimonds has AFAIK nothing to do with miners and their work...

Here here, Bodo. Its like critics saying how can you use the name Graceland which represents the oppression of black slaves in America´s deep south, when the album features many (oppressed/exiled) black musicians? Its not about slavery its about pilgrimage and finding a state of grace. Makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with people.
