 | Hi everybody. I no longer have a VCR so I am selling all of my videos on ebay, including my Paul Simon ones. The article number is: 110076258265.
I thought that a couple of the videos would be rare now, and would sell like "hot cakes" but nothing! Not a single bid. Are these videos common as muck!? Does everybody already have copies? Let me know guys, ´cause I would hate to see these videos go for next to nothing! I know I can´t play them anymore, but it´s the principal! Thnx. |

 | It is the format, not the content that is the problem. Very few people use or have their VCRs and most fans will already have these tapes. They are also quite bulky and costly to post.
In the UK you can still buy VCRs and they are very cheap so I bought a new one one a couple of years back so I can continue to play my large collection of VHS tapes for many years. It is a fancy 6-Head Nicam Hi-Fi stereo and it plays all the formats including NTSC so it should last me a good decade at least.
Why dont you do this? VCRs now cost from about £30 (50 Euro) and can still be bought in supermarkets. |

 | I think you may be right. I actually have to content, for the most part, on my computer or on DVD, so that´s why I don´t want the videos. And I imagine that most fans probably do have the content anyway. I just hurts when I think about how much I paid for all the original videos I am selling. I paid around GBP 660, or nearly â?¬1,000! And now I will be lucky if I get â?¬1. Not a good return. Still they gave me a lot of pleasure over the years, so I guess that´s waht counts. |

 | Hi Kat, well yes...unless you are prepared to pay for higher postage to the UK. Shipping outside of Germany is expensive. For a parcel this big around 12 GBP, or â?¬17. Which makes it too expensive for most buyers, I suppose. What a shame. |

 | £12 for 4 Paul Simon videos is pretty good if they are being given away. They cost that much each when they are new and it is worth it for The Concert In The Park alone. |

 | Quite right. Well everybody, here´s the deal.....if the don´t sell on ebay, I will give them away to anybody who wants them if you pay the postage. If Nobody wants them.....in the bin they go. (Cry, tears, howl!) |

 | Hey Dave, are the videos in NTSC or PAL format? (and does anyone know whether this actually matters?) |

 | Hey Nikki, you are very sweet. Bodo is correct for the most part. ;-) If your VCR can play both systems, as many modern VCRs can then it doesn´t really matter. However, if your VCR can play only NTSC then these videos will have problems on your player. Maybe only show in Black and White, maybe no sound or maybe won´t even play at all. These are in PAL, to cut a long story short. (I do have the concert at the Tower, 1980 on NTSC, but I didn´t even bother putting that on ebay as I assume almost no-one could play that!). Anyway......still no bids on ebay, so some free Videos are maybe heading someones way!! |

 | Most PAL VCRs sold in the past 5 years (maybe longer) are NTSC compatible, even the cheap ones. I have that 1980 Tower video - called Paul Simon Live, One-Trick Pony, S&G Concert In Central Park and You´re The One on NTSC and they all play fine. |

 | but - who bought a VCR in the last 5 years? :-) Waste of money IMO.
The fact is that there even exist DVD players which can not play NTSC AND PAL, and there are even TV´s (most in the USA) which can only handle the NTSC signal, and not the PAL signal. (a VCR which can play PAL does not mean that you can see it if your TV can not handle the PAL signal)
But it is true, most cheap asian brand machines can play nearly everything and some very expensive US or European brand machines are useless... |

 | I put my hands up to buying a TV/video combo about 3 years ago. No regrets, cos I can now watch OTP in colour. It was b/w on my Old video! |
